Thats brilliant, and a good additional bit of info from Teapot. I think that we will always pay whatever it costs because we all rely on it so heavily.

It cost me £15.50 to fill up today! :P  :( :(

You must have had about 1/4 a tank, unless you found somewhere really cheap to buy fuel from. I filled up the other day, and cost me just shy of £30 +£6 for my jerry can in the boot.

That was from just on the red to a full tank, so could be my senders not spot on.

A tank is around 34 litres although you can't use all of it. But to keep the topic on track if you want to know more about it try a search.

Petrol around here is 116.9 now. Seems to be going up atleast 1p a week even when the price of a barrel drops!

Bfox, I agree to an extent. but theres a limit to what people can afford to pay for such an essential item(for some it is)

when it hits £1.50, do we still pay it? how much does that work out for you with your usual fillup?

Its my current(and long standing) peeve due to the amount of research Iv done on it for my coursework...the more I read, the more pi*sed I get about it.

Interestingly, both petrol and diesel prices have actually dropped a little in my area. Petrol by 1p and diesel by as much as 3p, currently at 114.9p and 127.9p respectively.

I have just beendriving in America - and it is so much cheaper over there. Nearly as little as half the price.

It is shocking the amount of tax that is paid on fuel. There needs to be a point where all of us turn round and say enough is enough. To achieve something like that will probably involve a fuel strike of some kind though which in turn will lead to people panic buying fuel. It's a vicious circle and unfortunately one that I cannot see us breaking out of any time soon.

but there is a need for fuel tax. The problem is deeper, with our government's wastage of money - this is then passed down to us. The strings need to be tightened - everywhere

what gives me the shizits is when the same servo will change its prices a couple of times in the one day. the other week there was a place that was $1.50 the morning and in the arvo it was $1.55. theres no reason for it but for them to make money.

I know there is a need for money, and its being wasted in the wrong areas by the people WE put into power...but its so not right. They can only squeeze us dry so much, before theres nothing left to drain.

Maybe look into getting rid of the waste of resources, of which the uk has many. For one, the newspapers reported that cleric with the hook(he is an insult to islam to be honest...) who sprouted hatred and bile, and is connected(they "cant prove" this thou.....) to the london bombers...supposably costing the british public 1,000,000 a year in benifits.....Im sure people like that are not needed here?

maybe the expenses the MPs claim to fix their houses and go on holidays could be cut too?
