I'd wire it up directly to the coil, thats how I usually wire em up.

Also check the carbon brush on cap hasn't fallen out whilst you've been fitting the kit!!!

Im still stuggling shifty eveything i do on the bloody mini take 10 times as long as it should. This kit should have been fitted in 10 mins everyone else fits it no probs but i try to fit ohhh no doesnt want to work.

I know the kit isnt faulty cause I have a second here and cant get that one to work either.

Tried connecting it direct to coil still no joy carbon brush in cap is still there. Really fed up in general im gonna take a sledge hammer to her in a minute she how she likes that!

Right then, lets start from the beginning, is the coil wired up the correct way?

+12v coming in when the ignition is switched on to the + side of the coil?

Yep coil is fine and correct. Also the whole setup worked fine with my points? Just in case should risk trying the red wire on the other side of the coil or am I gpnna fry the module?

I wouldn't!!

Stuff like can produce the mysterious blue smoke of death!!!

Hmm.....

The only other thing I can think of is that the trigger(under the rotor arm) isn't being seen by the eye. Can this be moved closer?

Hmm good thinking shifty ive just been down to check but the thing isnt like a normal rotor arm its just a magnetic ring that sit around the top of the shaft (behave you lot family forum)

it seems to perfectly inline with the little red module. Hand on how does all this work? There is now no physical connection to each of the four contacts in the cap as. ok maybe im being a tool but you see the little metal spade thing in the pitcure i hadnt found out where that goes yet?

The metal spade thing goes on the coil, this is so you can attach the hard wired spade connector straight to the coil. I wouldn't get too hung up about it.

I'm at a bit of a loss?

Is your coil ballast or non ballast

There's 2 ways of wiring this system

See diagram

Also I'm not sure if its still needed but I refitted it on ours, have you refitted the little earth lead from backplate to dizzy body

Dammit!!

Lrostoke beat me to it!!

I was just thinking about ballast systems.

I don't think this will work with a ballast ignition, you'll have to convert to a normal 12v system, easy enough, just need a standard coil and a feed straight from the fuse box.

you can keep the ballast coil just give the britpart unit its own 12v feed like shown in the diagram

Have you checked if the plugs are getting a spark ??

If they are getting a spark then its a timing issue not the fitting of the unit
