Hi,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but what is the difference between a Wolseley Hornet and Riley Elf? Are they both the same just made by different companies?

Thankyou!
:xxx:

edit: Sorry I spelt Wolseley wrong in the title :closed:

They have different grilles, the Hornet ones are squarer, as opposed to the Elfs which is curvier.
The front side grilles on the Hornet also have vertical strips aswell as horizontal ones
Elf has a full width wooden dashboard, Hornet has small wood surround to the dials in the middle

Thank you!

I noticed yesterday at Himley hall that there were two next to each other that had different side grilles, so wondered if they were different! :)

just to add to that, yes the differences have been pointed out but they were not made my different companies.

they were all made in the same place, they just had the different badges and grilles fitted. actually they would have been made at longbridge, just like your advantage.

Austin, Morris, Riley and wolseley are all companies that were part of BMC (the British motor corporation).

there are quite a few cars that were basically the same but made under the different names with simple grille and cosmetic differences.

elf's and hornets are quite simply minis with different fronts and rear ends, just like the clubman :)
