As knowlageable people are saying, it wont spray oil everywhere... you can take the rockercover off completely if you wish and drive a fair way without loosing much oil. I've managed to leave my filler cap off once after toping up the oil one morning, drove 40 miles with it off... how embarrased was i wen i got to the rolling road and we opened the bonnet to find it was still balanced ontop of the radiator bracket.

I'd think your main concern would be dirt getting in, rather than oil getting out. Anything like tinfoil and a elastic band will do the trick ;D
