do you reckon its a bad idea to drive knowing there's no oil cap on the engine?

just checking the oil level for the week ahead and when i opened the bonnet i see my oil cap is missing... no idea where its gone or if someones nicked it. but i cant get one till next weekend which is the L2B !

what could happen apart from oil being flicked all over the bonnet??

Well you loose oil, blow enigne up, or create a fire etc.

There are things called phones where you could ring up and order one, then have it delivered to you

i gues a temory fix would be to get a flat peice of fairly thick flat plastic. and whop that over the top and try to hold it on with something.

couldnt you stick a bit of cling film over the hole and put an elastic band around it for now?

or do the plastic caps breathe???

just a thought

could do but i dont have any and the heat from the engine might make the glue melt and fall off.

anyway, ive made my rocker cover into a bit of a jam jar type thing. i'll put a picture up in a bit

all you need to do is get a lid from a nescafe jar of coffee, drill a 2mm hole in the top, then tape it down with duct tape (not covering the hole obviously)

sorted :closed:
