It is not possible to 'catalyse' unleaded into leaded, you have to add some lead or substitute to it. All these products are a con, you can't put a bit of lead in the tank or the fuel lines and hope it will slowly disolve. Nothing will happen. Pure lead would be a terrible thing to add anyhow, fuel additive should be tetra-ethyl lead. The best additive to use based on much research and the opinions of many on the forum is Castrol Valve Master Plus. This provides a lead replacement that actually does what it is supposed to do and lubricates the valve seats while also boosting the octane of regular unleaded from 95 to 97 making it a direct replacement for 4 star. If you add it to super unleaded of 97 RON you will get a lead replacement fuel with 99 RON, nearly 5 star standard. All you do is add a drop of it to your tank when you fuel up. I seem to remember that you add it in at a concentration of 1:1000 so a bottle lasts for ages.

I don't believe a word of it and never have. They provide no decent testing to back up thier claims and generally don't wish to partake in things such as proper testing.

Link: It's a bit long but quite interesting

For my landrover I use Castrol Valvemaster additive: I did a lot of research at the time and this was, by a considerable margin, the best product for [assisting with] the prevention of valve seat recession and was proven to work.

Yeah i bought a box of 60 'Castrol valvemaster' syringes. You just pop one in with every tank of fuel and off you go.

For accurate calibrated dosing of the fuel using Castrol Valvemaster or others with a 1:1000 dose rate there is a new flow sensitive valve available that fits in-line and holds enough additive for several tanks of fuel. Available through Zportec's website.
