Any update mate?

well... no is the quick answer to that :D

i was victime to an unprovoked assault a few weekends ago, im pretty much fully recovered, broken rib is still painfull though!! I had lost the use of my hands for a couple of weeks tho, so iv not been able to work on my engine and even more shockingly, hold a pint :) and I refuse to use a straw to drink a pint

anyway, im good now so work will start on the engine again soon, probably this weekend. I'm going to ring MED now and order my rockers and a rocker cover... and another piston ring because i snapped my replacement lol

cheers, all better now thanks! couple of battle scars tho

more bad news with the engine build

all pistons were in eventually, MED 1:5:1 roller rockers and rocker cover arrived - happy days... got around to fitting the followers and onto the cam, oh dear. Cam is no where near to fitting, id say 3 thou oversized to the oil pump bearing. Rang minisport up whome i purchased the block from and i quote 'just use some wet and dry'. :errr: WHAT?! no thanks minisport. I think ill give that one a miss - bunch of mugs.

So i rang a few local engine shops, about 6 in total. I was asking if anyone could match the bearings to the cam journals and the answer was consistantly no. A place named Bannisters in bamber bridge, preston seems my best bet. The guy claimed to have the best part of 50 years experiance in the A-series engines, and judging by his voice and pronunciation id beleive that! I asked if it was possible to do with the pistons and crank still in and he said 'its much easier to get ones hands in if one is working on a bare engine'... so anyway, thats tomorrows job. Gonna take it in to him next week.

Incidently, this bloke at bannisters reckons the bearings were not fitted correctly in the first place and that they could possibly have been knocked or tapped in rather than pressed. So he's just going to fit new bearings correctly, so no guarente its going to work! I have confidence though, this guy must have done thousands of them!

Slow progress but learning every step of the way!

well, looks like its going well, i'm not a million miles off finishing mine now either >_<

so you'll get to experience the weber setup...

mine made 110bhp and 96ft/lb with a slightly different spec to yours and twin SU's (which i now despise!)

got weber and MJLJ now so it should be round 115-120bhp and 100+ft/lb all will be revealed when it gets on the rollers again

i'll give u a nudge when its on the road

Rob

Would be interested in having a look at the MJLJ map, assuming you're running a MAP set-up not TPS.
