Chin up mate. In a roundabout kind of way rust is ok to have,.. it forces you to Give the car correct prep and gives you the chance to fill box sections with waxoil etc etc...

You'll be fine,.. best thing to do for progress now, get the panels ordered and some tin snips,.. and then lay it all out... trim the repair panels to size/shape if they need it and basically get the whole shebang ready for welding.. you'll feel much better with those panels ready to fit nicely infront of you,.. and metal work is a really useful thing, tin snips can be great in the right hands...

Then you might be able to convince your dad to pull his finger out :lol: if there's no faffing about cutting stuff up, just a straight forward cut it out, and weld it in job

Also if you're going to be respraying it (i guess you have to now really) Maybe you should start prepping the panels that will be staying, ....
