My new tow car. An alpina white e30 318i touring. Bought with 2 owners from new (father and son) with full service history and every receipt ever including the original purchase. MINT! All Touring also have mtech suspension, antiroll bars and front and rear disk brakes. Plus of course it is Rear wheel drive.
Bought it granny spec like this for £640, which is hilarious because I offered him £1500 in febuary and he turned me down:

Bought some MIM 1900 alloys:

Lowered it 35mm but only got the fronts done so will take pics once rears are done. Tow bar will be next. Already bought a z3 engine for it, but wiring loom was frubar and ecu was an abs module!!! So I've got a an 1800 twincan 16valve 318IS engine and possible an 'IS' small case lsd lined up from a local guy.

They look really good on 35mm drops. Why dont you slot the 2.5i lump in?

because it's heavy only 170bhp and wont get past 180bhp without building a long stroker. whereas the 1.8 IS is 134bhp and easily tuned to 150bhp with a 325' throttle body, decent pair of cams and an ecu chip. plus I can use my gearbox and prop and can't with the 325.

IS engine is also a same as a z3 1.9 so I can shove one of them in easy peasy, in the future.

Looks really nice, I love the E30 tourings

I used to have an E30 318iS and it went very well for a small engine bmw. They make a 320iS as well, but only sold it overseas.

The m42 engines fitted to the E30s' are slightly smaller then ones fitted to the Z3s and E36, even though they have the same engine number.

I expect lots of piccy's ;)

She is done!
Found one rusty hole and fixed it:

Fitted 318is engine:

Made straight-through exhaust:

Lowered 35mm all round:

She is on the road, but needs new belts, thermostat, oil and filter, to be done tomorrow!
Have now purchased an IS front valance that needs a fibreglass fix up and spraying too. Will be at L2b as I have lots of things to bring back in order to crack on with the mini!

Looking good mate.

I put a 318is straight through system in the skip last week, you could have had it for free. Had to take it off my car as i was embrassed about how loud it was ;D

Atleast it is a timing chain, so no horrible cam belt to change ;D

Will keep an eye out for it at L2B :-
