you might be able to take 3-4mm off the mounting bracket and the hub but i image thats about all thats safe, im not sure how much you'll need to move it in. Its way easier to just use turned down 8.4inch as it all lines up right!

Yeah but mambas have stolen my heart so there the only wheels I want, I'm just trying to find a braking route that will allow me to use them and so far all there is is drums or cooper S and both don't suit me :sad:. Shame I think it would have looked awesome those huge calipers showing through mamba rims.

Do you know if revos will fit over fiesta calipers? I'm guessing yes if revos fit over 4 pot calipers.

yeh all of the modern stuff should fit, minilites, revos, starmags, superslots, mini specials etc and i'd imagine the better 60's stuff like cosmics, dunlops. Basically its just mambas, standard steel wheels and cooper s rims that wont fit.

After reading this thread ages ago Ive been thinking about doing this for a while, a couple of weeks ago my brakes failed and I ended up in a hedge which was the motivation I needed to get this conversion underway.
Just have a few questions

Is it MG Metro drive flanges and Ive read in an other forum that it is the non MG or HLE flanges that is required? Which one is better??

Also can I use Minisport 7.9” standard or grooved discs instated of getting the 8.4” ones machined down?

any metro vented disc drive flange will do the job fine

my conversion is about 30 months or so old with no issues what so ever

Hi all,

I have got all the necessary parts for the conversion and assembled one side. The guide I followed said use MG Metro drive flanges to bring the disc out to the centre of the caliper. I have used the MG drive flange but it has brought the disc out too far and it touches the caliper.

Just wondering if anyone who has done this conversion

a) did you use the Metro drive flange?

B) if so did you have the same prob?

c) if you did have had this problem how did you get round it?

d) if you didn't have the same problem - any ideas where I could have gone wrong?

Really quite puzzled - would have thought that all MK11 fiesta calipers, MG vented drive flanges and mini disc hubs were exactly the same.

Any help would be much appriciated.

yeh those calipers are tricky to get off the scrappy now, then i found out my local auto factors will do a reocon one for £30 but 10 exchange charge so still worth keeping if you have some

I was directed here form the British Mini Club forum, someone there found the post, I was wondering if I could do this to my 1978 mini 100 the brakes are rubbish and I have recently paid £250 to have them fixed and the mechanic says that they are good as they will ever get without changing things, to change over to discs the kit is £800 as I'm sure you know. Sorry to bother you but I was just wondering if you good give any advice

Woao! £800?? Are they ceramic brakes?? What brakes have you got at the mo? I'm guessing they are drums all round if they are original. You have a few options..

Get some 8.4" brakes, fairly cheap, and can be modified to fit a couple of 10" wheel designs.
Get some 8.4" discs and fit 12" wheels.
Get 4 pot alloy brakes - £300 - £450 new and fit 10" wheels.
Get some Cooper S discs, £200-300 2nd hand, £400-500 new.

You need to ground a bit off the caliper and then you can fit them under, erm, wellers I think. Haven't done it myself...
