And here's something totally different on behalf of my finnish Mini friend! =)

Yes, those are Fiesta brake calipers, but this conversion is made so that you use your existing brake drum hubs + mini flanges + Fiat 127 brake disc + bespoke "metal thingie" (pic)

A waaaayyyyy cheaper brake disc conversion than what we have done here lol. People who are racing in Mini 1000 Cup here in Finland have been using this conversion over 10 years now and I found out about this few days a go. There are a bit metal work involved, but not much more than this other setup i think. Clever stuff huh? :D

I know people have said that mamba's dont fit, but for people who have tried, have you got any pics of the clearance issues?

Friend of mine will (probably) do this conversion during the winter and when he gets those bespoke metal thingies, i'll measure those up and get some project pics. :proud: by the way. the discs need very small amount of drilling to fit as bolt pattern of those are 4x100mm unlike mini's bolt pattern which is 4x4".

At least here those can be found on any shop that sells car spare parts. If they don't have the parts on the shelf, those can be always ordered ;)

Any more news on the Fiat disc/ Mini drum hub conversion?
I was looking at going down the Fiesta caliper/Metro drive flange route but would really like to keep the std steelies and not have to space out the rears to match. It's staying a std 998 for the forseeable, so discs are really only to help on the motorway or if I have to really stamp on the brakes (and to try to convince my better half that the car's vaguely safe enough to carry our kids...)
Is that a spacer in the pictures of the Fiat disc conversion, and if so any idea how deep?
I thought something like these might help with the bespoke mounting plate needed...

Thanks Purtsi, I'm trying to find a conversion that'll keep the track as close to standard as possible. That's why I'm interested in whether that's what looks like a spacer at the wheel mounting side of the disc and whether it's got to be a specific size.
The car's very original so I'd rather try to keep away from alloys and arches if possible.
Unless I get lucky I guess this may mean splashing out Cooper S stylee...
