I'm now thinking of doing this on my car, but just wanted to know whether this will fit over Mini Special alloys as I don't want to do it if it won't fit the wheels my car came with.
Also is there a list of needed parts (for a drum to disk conversion) to go with the vid as this topic has just become confusing with various ideas and i'd like to know what you guys settled on in the end.
mmmm I did get a bit of a list together, I dont know if anyone else would like to add... oh and it depends how much refrubd work you need to to like wheel bearings, ball joints, etc
This is the link to our club thread
http://www.miniaddic...read.php?t=1193and a cut and paste list.... but I wouldn't short cut on the research as parts of info can be taken out of context.....

Background
The parts list. We have decided to completely refurb the hubs as they were secondhand and if you are going to strip everything down then provide the car with more breaking force its best to have everything in tip top condition. Its best to factor in these costs when considering an upgrade.
So Why Do itThe upgrade can be for people who have drums all round and want discs but want to keep the 10inch wheel -Me or people who have a 12inch or larger wheel and think that smaller is better and are looking for the retro 10 inch look.
Its cheaper than a Cooper S 7.5 inch kit which are about £500.
Its cheaper than the 7.9inch 4 pots as these are about £400-£500 once you have factored in the hoses, hubs (if you are doing the conversion form drums)
The Mk2 Fiesta calipers use a larger pad than the mini, you can use the 7.9inch disc and the single pot caliper design means the pedal should be high and firm as you will need to move less fluid. All this should add up to a good fade resistant braking system. + you won't need to adjust the front's like you do with Drums. The Ford kit is well proven and the old grotty caliper I got at first still moved on its slide by hand so they should resist sticking.
Donor Parts (Second Hand)
- Mini Brake Disc hubs (Expect to pay about £50 with drive shafts)
- Fiesta Mk2 calipers and carriers - The carries are the most important part as you can buy new calipers just not the carrier.
New Parts- Drive shaft Clips
- Wheel Bearings (there a lot of info on what type Timkin or std)
- Ball joints and new grease nipples
- Cv gaiter (Cheap and you might split the exisiting one)
- Custom hoses with Fiesta metric connection one end and mini subframe on the other)
- The Fiesta calipers I have are not in bad condition but as the car stands between meetings I'm going for refurb units
- Fiesta Pads, Lots of talk about what is best... remember a super fast road style pad will need heat in it to work so its best to pick one for the way you drive. We are going to try a good quality road pad.
- Drive Flanges off of an MG Metro Turbo or vented disc metro. This is to give you the clearance to bolt the Fiesta caliper on.
- 8.4 inch discs turned and have them turned down to 7.9inch or about 6mm off of the radius.
- Brake fluid.
- Longer high tensile metric bolts to hold the front calipers on as the Ford ones are too short - THESE MUST BE HIGH TENSILE.
- New larger disc master cylinder
Drum upgrade Parts- New inbound rubber drive couplings and u bolts, if fitted
- A 1inch rear wheel spacer kit either the 1275 drum type on post 84 mini's or a 1inch spacer both will need longer wheel studs. This is because the discs on the front will push the wheels out so you need to bring the rear wheels in-line.
- Wheel arches if you don't have them as the wheel will stick out further
- you might need small rear wheel cylinders if you don't have the limiting valve on the rear sub frame, you don't want the rears locking before the front.
12" wheels to 10" upgrade / downgrade- 10 Inch wheels, I don't think that mamba's or steel will work.
This is the first Draft so I might have missed something... Mark please add anything..."
