Need to test with the washers then. Hopefully that will sort out the problem...

you should beable to see if its inline with the caliper off and pads out if not you braking could be uneven. the side we are bolting the brackets to it a bit rough as rover would only face the other side to accept the mini caliper.

let us know how you get on

Yay.. got the brakes now working a bit better. I cleaned the surfaces where the caliber mounting bracket is attached + added one washer on the right side bracket. It still needs a lot of driving and braking before the pads are bedded in. I still think that the pedal travel is a bit longer than with the normal 2-pot brakes but the braking efficiency is atleast as good as with normal 2-pots.

Great video Graham, brilliant stuff, this video should be made a sticky in FAQ section.

Just to confirm... you drilled the hubs out to 10.5mm right?

Well to be exact Mark drilled them to 10.5mm We tried 10mm first but as it was in a piller drill it was too close to get the bolts in so we went to 10.5mm :(

P.S thats Mark in the vid I'm only holding the cam

Yep, To be exact the pitch of the mounting holes in the hub is 1mm different to the pitch in the fiesta calipe mounting bracket so you need to enlarg the holes .5mm each to give you the 1mm extra required to get the bolts in. if your doing it on the car(Freehand) you may get away with it but in the pillar drill it just follows the previous hole centres.

Cheers

right finally getting my arse into gear next week, got four days off work (i think) so i'm gonna get the disc turned and resurfaced... and hopefully i've found some calipers too  Got my disc drive shafts now to which are in great nick with outer CV's etc..

Just one thing to confirm, the XR2 calipers are NOT useable for this conversion (or at least it hasn't been done yet) am right? I was under the impression you could onyl use the Mk1-2 standard calipers and not the ones fitted to the XR2 fiestas.
