Hi all,

I've been thinking about selling my 1965 Morris Minor for a bit and have started advertising it etc. Thing is, I've been offered a 1974 Foers Nomad...I think it's Mini related? Does anyone know anything about it? What's it worth?

I'll let you know when he gets back in touch. He is all the way in the Scottish highlands though...

Here's the actual Nomad plus info. Don't think it's my cup of tea but I'll get a price for anyone interested...alternatively you could buy my Morris Minor off me for £1700 and then swap that for his little Nomad...seemingly it has an insurance value of £2000?

The nomad has an mot until december, runs fine,is in pretty good condition but would benefit some small cosmetics.I am just about to fit a new alternator and replace the n/s driveshaft as inner c.v becoming noisy. There were only approx 200 of these cars made by Foers Engineering in Rotherham.Info from previous owner is as follows.

It is a factory built car-probably built to order for the first owners who owned a large estate near Edinburgh. It was fitted with a towbar for the specific purpose of towing a gang mower and most likely was never on the road.It then was sold to a Minister in Berwick who bought it for the registration number(car now on age related plate FSJ 521).Then sold to a local mechanic in Kyle who had it for 9 years-carrying out a rolling refurbishment.I bought it 3 years ago with no mot as a project for the summer.New rear subframe fitted for mot and no problems since. Its registered as a 1964 austin nomad and qualifies for nil road tax-current disc expires end of may.I will get you some current pictures today sometime once I clear a space to get it out of the garage.Hood is weatherproof but could do with some rotten stitching redone.Doors are slide pin fitting and for the last 3 years both hood and doors have hardly been on.Something with more seats would be a bit more practical as I have 3 kids who won't fit in at the same time(well, they do but it's a bit illegal.)There is a spare engine that goes with the car with only 22k on it, although it's been robbed of bits and bobs.

This is where I need to put on my Nomad anorak.........!

They actually made 3 slightly different body shapes. The cars were all produced in Rotherham by Foers Engineering. The company went out of business a few years ago. They actually made another kit car which is a land rover-type vehicle called an Ibex. (Of which I have only ever seen one complete one). They are completely mini-based. You needed a complete mini as a donor to build the car from kit form. The panels are all aluminium sheet riveted to a steel box section frame so they can still rot!!

There were only about 200 Nomads made in their various body shapes. There is a Nomad Owners Club. I haven't got round to getting in touch with them yet. I hang out with the Scamp Owners Club instead.

You can fit seats in the rear. Mine has two full roll bars plus a fold down double seat in the back for 2 passengers. I'm hoping to try and fit some sort of minibus seats complete with seat belts into the back once I get to that stage of the re-build.

Very impractical cars but great when the sun's shining. I can't wait to get mine on the road.

P.S. If the guy would like to part with the cover separately, I'd be very happy to discuss that with him.
