Hi, the clarke welders are generally well thought of and are good machines.
That machine will go down to 25amps so will be good for rusty minis
Have you looked here
www.mig-welding.co.uk
They speak highly of Clarke welders

90 amp is not enough, you will suffer greatly from what's called duty time.... this is basically how long you can do continuous welding before the unit needs to rest..
I have a 120amp turbo welder, and that struggles with sills.
If you're going to be doing any major bodywork then I'd suggest something over 120amp mk, which even though you're not going to be using it at max power it means the duty cycle on the lower settings is more conducive to prolonged periods of welding.

Thanks for the quick feedback
I have plenty of welding to be getting on with, but I dont think it will be for any extended lengths of time.
So I think I will go and have a look at Machine Mart also see if there are any VAT free days coming up.
Again thanks for the feedback

I don't own a Clarke but I know people who do and they do rate them as one of the better hobby machines.
I would suggest getting a decent auto helmet(not the cheap ebay C**p)
Also if you've got a bit of welding to do its probably going to be worth you while getting a big gas bottle from BOC or similar. The little disposable things don't last 5 mins and will work out more expensive in the long run.
GW is right about the duty cycle and if you can afford to upgrade to one of the newer clarke 135te or 110 models then it may be worth it.
