:w00t:

So if getting out of your old cooper into the R1mini is fast is it the same step in performance getting in the monte or is it totally removed from anything else youv'e been in????

I've been in it but not when it was moving, lol!!!

I was sat in it helping Chris bleed the clutch at Curborough, that will probably be the closest i ever get to driving it! :w00t:  I did drive his hyabusa cooper though.

However, seeing the monte going round Curborough, it was plainly obvious that nothing else on the day came anywhere near it.

There was a guy on here the other week selling a Force racing titanium subframe with suspension arms as well I think, he wanted just over a grand IIRC.

Wooooooooooooo.......

Just seen the advert for it...... £1600

Steady on, chris was fabricating his own front subframe from tube when i picked my kit up a few weeks ago. tubular arms and the top arm was adjustable for castor and camber. Dont know how much they will be but may be worth a phone call in your quest for lightness???????

Yeh, i suggested that Chris make these for the bike engined boys a few months ago. It turned out that he was just about to start making one for the Honda vtec minis to get them to handle properly. He said they will be 10Kg lighter than a mini front subframe but nothing yet about the price.

He's gonna send me some pics when he has got one powder coated..... :dontgetit:

Keep us posted on the subframe.
I havnt had any news on the pedalboxes yet either?
Pm us your e-mail so i can forward any details and pics/prices.

Oh, i managed to get on a friends pc today aswell and had a look at the z-cars site and your 0-60 clip :dontgetit: :dontgetit:
Had you just finished it and not had time to paint the front i assume ???
Fair play it sounds well as does anything with a bike engine in it
4.5 seconds is subaru territory but it was only at 3/4 throttle wasnt it?
How much did it weigh again??

I have no rush at the moment on the front subframe so i will just wait to see what Chris has to offer and his price. Will let you know when i have something from Chris.

I decided not to paint the front or bootlid, I like the look of it that way.

The car was running on Chris's new throttle linkage on the dvd but it wasnt giving full throttle. I have had to remove the throttle stop at the back of the pedal to give more movement. It is now giving full throttle but the pedal is a little too high so i will cut it down a bit and re-weld. I think these linkages were made for an injected R1 which could have less throttle movement. Pete, Ade - do yours give full throttle straight out of the box???

I think the car should be capable of less than 4 secs 0-60. It has a higher power to weight ratio than the z cars hyabusa (300bhp/ton) and z cars are claiming 3.5 secs for that. After going out in the zcars hyabusa i think mine seems faster!! :dontgetit: :dontgetit:

The weight was 515Kg on the dvd.

515kg is very good, if i recall ade's was 590 ish and i dont know what pete's was but i reckon mine will be at least 650 as it's all steel and a heavier lump to start with!!!!!!!!!!!! :nugget: :nugget:

But it wont be slow by any means............ :dontgetit:

Have you registered it for the road or is it a pure trackday weapon???

Mark :wales:

Ps i just found out why my doors are so heavy, the late mpi mini's had side impact protection bars fitted :dontgetit: :dontgetit: so they will have to go!!!!!!

I should be around 490Kg now but have plans to get it even lighter, hence one of the reasons for ditching the front subframe. I would preferably like to get the weight off the back end to improve the weight distribution. One option is to ditch the sierra diff and get lighter driveshafts and an ATB.

I did use it on the road last year (about 500 miles in it) but i felt totally irresponsible driving the thing and everybody is looking at you every where you go!!!

You have all this yet to come!!!!

Have you got any piccies of the door bars?? I dont think mine has them as it is a 1995 shell. Next job is to cut the inside of the doors out.

My doors are still intact and untouched since the tecnicians at rover assembled them :dontgetit: :dontgetit: :dontgetit:

I was only planning on refitting them when they were repainted and leaving the winders etc in them so as yet i have not discovered them but i hope they are removeable!!!!!!

If we go the KAD pedal box way, they may do discount if we order at the same time?????
Have to ask Jammy as he is the KAD guru!!!!!! :cheese: :fear:
