Got some oil pressure issues now. But I'm 99% sure its oil pump. My fault for using an old pump I suppose, but I wanted to keep costs down. Bearings all new, thrusts all new, PRV checked and cleaned, 20/50 oil used, oil galleries cleaned etc. It only seems to be a problem when warm, so hopefully if i take it easy to work for a week I can change it next weekend.

Other than that - 1380 power is WIN!! Couldn't help but take it for a meaty thrashing! No smoke, lots of beans and ample tyre squeel . Re-jetted the carb. Was pretty spot on under 4k revs (mainly because its off cam ) but just changed the main jet up a size and its way better. Plugs look spot on too. 1380 map loaded into the MJ already so thats just gonna get left. Definitely don't miss the SC drops either. The meaty roar of a 1380 breathing through a weber is good enough for a bit.

So yeah. jobs a goodun! :)

Can't beat 1380 power, what sort of oil preasures are you getting? Have you looked at the relief valve?

relief valve = PRV. all checked. maxes out at 50 when hot. Maybe 15 at idle . Its more like 50 at idle and 70 when cold though. It gets upto pressure pretty quickly so I'm sure its not bearing clearances. Which were checked and were spot on anyways. I only got 40 psi when churning it over with the plugs out first time which made me think ???? a bit. Normally get 70 when I've done it before.

Hopefully pump change and its all sorted.

Mission.

Won some doors on eBay a few days ago, so I went with dad to pick them up Monday evening. Was roughly 50 miles each way. Decided to take his new van which he has only had a couple weeks. Started making a rattle sound on the way up so took it easy, but assumed it was the alternator giving up. Got there, picked up the doors, paid the man and left for home. After about 20 mins we decided we were going the wrong direction!! (totally the wrong direction it seemed). Slowed down to get the map, then BANG BANG BANG!!!!!!. Shat it for a sec, then looked under the bonnet. Lost the aux drive belt. Middle of nowhere, but eventually got hold of the AA. Anyways some legend towed us to the local, so we had a pint and waited for the ride home. So yesterday we had a closer look, and the crank pulley had exploded.

This is what we took off:

And this is what we put on!!

Still wouldn't start. Quick look through a workshop manual today to look for a next plan of action. Cambelt tripped a tooth. re-align, stick back together, turn the key and she fires up. Jobs a goodun

So now thats sorted I've started ripping my doors apart, repairing, lightening and getting ready to stick on the car. No pics of that, but I do have this:

Doesn't take long to take the engine out, isn't it realy fiddly to take the bellhousing off in situe?

Nope will be miles easier with the engine in. Doesn't take long at all. CBA with taking the exhaust off, master cylinder off, navigating the engine past the clutch slave etc.

Just a case of taking the O/S engine mount / steadies off, drain oil, jack it up, clutch housing & slave off, flywheel off, transfer casing half off, replace the pump and stick back together. Could have it done in 3 hours easy!!
