Right, ive got some more done today :withstupid: And with the car off the road for a month there should be plenty more!

Started off thismorning pulling out the front wiring loom, as its all burned and melted in places! So its currently nailed to a board ready to be modified and turned into a custom loom.

Then came the usual sit about, deciding-what-to-do-next bit. I ended up chipping off the bitumen sound deadening, to save a little weight (well 10.5kg ;D) and i also found a couple small rust holes underneath, so i can patch that up now.

Next jobs: tidy up the floor, get the custom loom in, re-carpet and order the tyres / brake refurb bits.

Good news!

Yesterday my Minispares order came, after my bank decided i spent too much and cancelled my card :D, but anyways this lot turned up:

That includes:

Maniflow Stage 2 LCB
Adjustable Bottom Arms
Adjustable Rear Camber Brackets
2x Radius Arm Repair Kits
Rear Subby Rubbers
Offset Bottom Arm Rubbers
4x SS Caliper Pistons
Caliper Repair Kit
Caliper Pad Retaining Kit
Filter King Regulator
Silver Top Facet Fuel Pump
Fuel Pump Unions
4x Weller Centre Caps
19mm Wheel Spacer Set

 :)

And seeing as the days are longer when i get home after work, it gives me a chance to get a lot more done while its off the road :). So after a bit of decision making, i decided my front floor pans needed replacing, outer sills and doorsteps both sides of the car. So picked up some more panels from DSN (not for the cooper this time!) and set about cutting the old out.

Posted Image

Some nice sod decided it would be OK to put the repair sill over the old sill, so i have 2 to remove now :gimme:

Ive got 7 days off over easter, so i hope to get all the new goodies on and get most of the welding done. then as soon as its solid and i get my pay slip at the end of this month, i can get the engine in!

All good

MORE FRIKIN RUST!!!

So yep, a small bit of rust fighting has turned into a mini restoration project :(. I wanted to do a decent job of it, so bought 2x floor repair panels, 2x door steps, and 2x outer sill (to start with ). Found the rear heel board and inner sill it totally shot, as seen above. Welded the full front floor in and door step, after bracing the shell a bit.

Sill is only placed on to check fit & flitch repair.

I have refurbed 2 rear radius arms using the Minispares kit, which i was pretty pleased with :dontgetit: Removed rear subby, to find more rust in boot corner :genius: So ive setup camp out the front of the house, in an old tent ;) . Not exactly fire proof, but it will do me for a couple hours each night when i come home from work.

Just about managed to weld half the O/S boot floor in with genuine rear closer, and strengthening bracket today. No decent pics though.

Jobs To Complete:

Weld inner flitch panel O/S
Weld rear inner sill
Weld heel board O/S
Weld boot floor corner N/S
Weld N/S closer panel
Weld N/S strengthening Bracket
Repair both rear quarter panels
N/S outer sill
O/S outer sill
N/S door step
N/S front floor section
Move power/brake/fuel lines into car
Finish Engine off
Fit engine
Refurb front subby
Fit trick suspension bits
Get & fit tyres
Refurb 8.4" brakes
Fit new fuel pump & regulator
Fit handbrake cable
Get MOT & insurance

Oh yeah, also ripped off the moulded arches, mainly because the Wellers are way too wide for the W&P's, but also to repair the rear quarters, as the arches just trapped the rust.

See, too wide:
