Whizzy tool turned up at half 1 . Worked the head to a reasonable state. Not brilliant but it will be loads better than it is now. Fitted guides, decided what valves to fit by fitting one and standing on the head to compress the spring, lapped valves in and stuck new stem seals on. Pocketed the block, again not perfect but I don't really care. Head is fitted, torqued up and plumbed in. Just gotta do tappets tomorrow and fire her up.

Can't wait to see what improvement it makes!!

And pics in a bit :dontgetit:

Sorted the tappets, adjusted the fan belt and topped up fluids. Idles pretty lumpy now, but its almost certainly due to fueling. Feels like I've lost a bit under 3k which was to be expected but gained quite a lot up top. REALLY lights the fronts up when giving it beans in 2nd now. Will re-torque head tomorrow and see how it likes 7k :)

All sorted for MITP now then :P

Yeah I should have TBF. Smoke was REAL bad going home though. Its alright if its driven, but if its left idling for too long and then you drive off, its just a massive smoke screen.

Mine used to do that. I fitted new valve stem seals and it was sorted. You did that though didn't you?

Yeah it should be stem seals, but maybe not. They were cheapo ones though.

OK. Smoking is better now. Chucked some 20/50 in. I was running 10/40 cheap ******* when it was burning off too fast to afford decent 20/50.

Also raped the vaux block with a drill, tap, EZ out, a BFH and an assortment of punches, trying to remove the oil restrictor/valve thing. It's now 100% ready for machining and I'll take it down sometime this week. Then as soon as the wages are sitting comfortably in the bank I'll get some core plugs and various odds ordered along with an oil pump. Then I can build some engine!
