Had a debate about this last night. After a lot of searching it was 50/50 as to whether they did anything structural. After today I noticed 50% of the spot welds didn't catch at all - so in effect they were doing bugger all!. So no, no strengthening was done, but I'm fitting a full muitipoint rollcage soon anyways!

Cheers Adcuz!

When I cut the bins out of a previous Mini I noticed the B-pillars didn't reach the top of the inner sills so made a triangular gusset to bridge the gap. You could always lighten the gusset with your favourite hole-saw!

JR

Oh and no smutty comments on the use of the word 'gusset', please!

Thats exactly what I planned to do, but I was actually melting inside the car at the weekend grinding & welding, so said sod it and went inside for a beer!

Will go out again in a bit and see what else I can come up with. Been working in a factory roof void today - above the ovens!! so nothing can be as hot as that!

Yeah well I changed my tyres on Monday, so thats that sorted. Got me another Haynes for the XE - this one contains useful info about stripping gearboxes and general usefulness. Not very common apparently so pleased with that. Also got me some sexy carbon:

Carbon Weezel door skins and a Curley boot floor. Got them from Mike (AKA RacingGreen). I feel like I'm not allowed to touch them let alone fit them :(

It wasnt just me that thought it then. When they arrived from carbon weezal i just stared at them. I couldn't believe how good they looked. Im sure they went back to the bodyshop about 2 or 3 times for more laquer or something.

Not sure if i mentioned (not that its important  ) these were the first set of seperate skins they made i think. As i didnt see them on their website and requested them specifically. Im sure they list them now though.
