Standard head LOL! Really want to spend as little as poss on it. Might just dive in there with a grinding stone/files/sandpaper/sticks whatever seems to work.

Sod that, sell the standard one. Buy an MG metro one, you can get them for around £30-£50.

Port that.

Not a lot of point putting a screamer 296 cam in and a boring head that can't flow enough to make benefit from it.

Pikey porting sounds like the way forward here Ben . If i was interested in making a good reliable engine I'd get a decent head for sure

Oh yeah, another reason to think about putting this 1380 in - I've got about 10mm crank endfloat, and if i grab the crank tail i can move it up/down about 1-1.5mm It still kinda spins round though

Might just run it till it goes bang

How's it done that so quickly?

Probably has something to due with ragging it all the time, and having the oil cooler hose pop off at 50mph and unloading the oil contents into the middle of the road.

Also letting the oil get so low that it surges pressure round corners probably doesn't help
