H section rods come today after a LONG wait. Advertised to have ARP bolts, I believe these have no such thing. No ARP stamped on them, and no pack of lube. The big end journal on one of the rods looks like the machining has been done my a monkey - looks like a bearing has spun in it, and every one of the rods look different, though they weigh the same. ON TOP of this the gudgeon pin only fits in 2 of the rods.

FFS!!!!!! Not happy!!!

Well I'm still peed off with the rods, but got things underway last night to return them.

So far I've not actually added anything Vauxhall to the mini . So seeing as my horn packed up (well the wire came off ) and the MOT is due soon, I saw this as an opportunity to fit a nice modern Vauxhall one .

Well done a bit of housework today ironing out lots of bits before the MOT. I was gonna get him to do it for me but to be honest that was me being lazy. Driving back home this morning i heard a big knock around the pedal box area when coming off throttle. Kinda knew what it was before getting home. The engine steady bracket had broken off thanks to my awesome lil rubber spacers. So stripped it down, welded it back up and put it back together slightly differently. Then set about changing the cambelt assembly for a duplex one I had laying around, as since being home an hour, a decent size puddle of oil was forming!. Anyways fingers crossed its the end of that. Then sorted the O/S hub nut, it was causing un-even braking. Oh yeah, re-tightened the exhaust as that was leaking due to the above problem. Then thought I might as well sort the handbrake as that was horrendous frankly! So faffed about getting a seized/rounded adjuster out, swapped for a spare one, adjusted and tested, now its all good to go. Then shimmed the balljoints, and finally, changed the N/S TRE to a QH spitfire one. Really can't stress how crap the "extended" mini ones are. I've had 2 from Minispares, and 2 from Minisport and they have all lasted no more than 6 months.

Now I'm chilling out with a bag of Doritos and a lager

Great... i've just changed mine track rod ends for the Minispares one's.
