Didn't you get that head off Pie?

Hmmmm!!!

I'm sure roofless had a 12g295 kicking around, I'll ask him if he's still got it if you like.

(in the meantime, nice nailing!!)

Nope, got the head off some dude off here, who previously bought it from Pie!!!!. It had been repaired by Brian Slark, and done several seasons of race on it so was more than decent repair. Just got a horrible feeling it was a cooling issue that done it. The actual gasket blew on deceleration believe it or not. But yeah, still blame Pie!!!

Gonna go for a 1275 head, with some work done to it, as it would take too much to get another 295 to the spec mine was in. Bit gutted, would have been nice to have it off the road and get a subframe mocked up for the XE so its ready to drop right in.

Yeah, thats the story!!

I was thinking seriously about buying that head at the time as well(phew.....!!!)

When I bought my block/crank off a dude here, he had a stonking 295, full on spec. I'd have had it if I hadn't just had mine done. Pm me if you want his name. He wanted £150 for it.

Looks like a fun toy. What will you be using it for? fabrication of a frame for the xe?

ALso I came across your youtube videos today.

:) :P

Yeah general fabrication. Primarily got it to cut a flange for my inlet manifold, but will no doubt end up using it more and more once i've had a proper play.

That's an expensive way to get an exhaust flange cut! There's a bloke on Migweb who does them for about £35 - have a look here

Good toy though!

Mine is an inlet manifold :) But i couldn't find one available that suited what i need. The hole had to be the right size for 45mm round tube squashed into an oval at one end. Also want to use the water bypass, whereas most i've seen dont have that on the flange. So designed my own, and with this toy i can hopefully cut it and weld 45mm tube on.

Anyways it was a good excuse to buy one :D

Went down to the steelies on Friday, got some 30x30x3mm box section and some 3 & 6mm plate for the XE frame. Welders back over at the house, so might make a start on that tomorrow. Still can't cut the 10mm flange for the inlet. Put a 16A supply in the garage hoping it would hold long enough to do that (also while knowing it needs a 32A supply!!), but doesn't like it on flat-out :D. So that still needs sorting before i can get the manifold finished!!

Not much to report after spending most of the free dosh on a plasma cutter, but made a start on cutting the flange at the weekend - till it started raining >_<. Also got a nice set of solid lifters today, which will allow me to use Q450V cams. Decided to up the spec a little to make it around 230+ ponies and 210+ torques. And after a week of winning a flat flywheel on eBay, its still not turned up - so filed a report with eBay, and now on the lookout for another.

Nowt done on the subframe, because basically i forgot to this weekend >_<

Oh yeah, also fitted an SPI heater to the car, after not having one since L2B!! Best compromise to an MPI heater IMO, as they seem to go for £90 ish on eBay, and i picked this up for £23, only difference is its only single speed. All was well till i got 300 yards from home, and the coolant temp went flat out on the gauge. Got home to see steam pouring from one of the hose joins and a huge lack of water (well there was none left >_<)

Made a start on the frame for the XE today. The result was semi-planned, but i adopted the "make it up as i go along" approach. Will put pictures up in a sec.
