Hmm, those Magnetic traps, have been known to collect a huge amount of swarf on them, and eventually the velocity of the uptake of the oil pump (as its inline) causes a cluster of metal bits to go straight into your oil pump and then the rest of the engine..

Yeah i have been told about that. Its not that thought as I cleaned that out LOTS when the engine was being run in. Its the one with the filter thing on as well rather than just the magnet.

Well ive bought a new pump, gallery plugs and various other crap, so ill strip it and see i think. Hopefully i can check the pump for tolerance this time (didnt do that last time as i didnt know how bad the tolerances were these days)

Well Minispares were out of stock on oil cooler hose, so the bits wont be here in time now, therefore the block will not be coming out at the weekend. Bit of a bugger really as i now dont know when i will have time to take it out.

Did you keep the 3.44 diff in the end? What is it like with acceleration and on the motorway with 10" wheels?

Yeah its got a 3.44 FDR in it. I would say its livable with, but then ive got SC drops and a weber and its not as bad as them!. Acceleration is hard to compare as its a completely different engine now, but it seems to change gear at the right times (if that makes sense). Personally i did prefer the 3.1, as i got into the habit of changing into 3rd about 45mph, now its more like 35mph change really. Still a nice drive ratio though. Sits at 70ish around 4krpm on the gauge, although thats pretty useless information as i know the rev counter is reading high >_<

Im having the lump out soon, so might try a 3.76 ratio seeing as this one revs a bit more.
