Cheers Al ;). Yep the old 850's actually are bomb proof . Had one a few years back that was totally knackered (im talking lack of piston rings LOL) but somehow it kept going!

lol, I'm selling a swiftune full race 850 for a friend when I get some pics of it. +040, race crank, rods, pistons, full race 295, 1.5:1 roller rockers, cam belt conversion, vernier pulleys, EVERYTHING lightened, even the dizzy drive :) they used to race it a few years ago, it cost them a bomb iirc

:D :D :D F'ing thing. Yesterday i went out to help someone with their mini build, and noticed a puddle of oil under the car. That meant the persistent leak had got somewhat worse. So stripped the timing gear down for the 100th time and noticed the top seal was knackered. replaced, put back together and was no different. Great.

Stripped it again today, which i included a head gasket change as i questioned whether it had blown.

Hour later i then moved onto the belt drive kit for the 101st time.

Decided i couldnt be bothered with it anymore, so took it right off with the intention of putting a fixed duplex kit on, till i found this:

Tiny hole in the boss for the cam pulley, which was letting oil past, into the cover and onto the fanblade getting flicked everywhere. Looks like its been made by a small screwdriver or something but god knows how. Welded that up, put it all back together and took it for a spin. Fingers crossed but its looking good. Was so close to selling the >_< :dontgetit: :w00t: :ermm: :D thing.

3 1/2 hours for a head gasket change and complete strip of timing gear, and refitting wasnt too bad though.

Cheers mate! Had so much grief with this leak its unreal. Clutch also needs doing next as its struggling to keep up with the power increase. front cones are knackered now, basically bottomed out. Going for the race spec mini-tastic spring conversion all round.
