Well I wondered if anyone was gonna ask.
Trouble is, if I tell you what it s for ,I will be trolled to death by the purist on here. Just like last time I mentioned I was going to fit it.
Sod it , I can take it. This is a power steering pump taken from one of only a handfull of specially built disabled cars from the 1980`s. I was lucky to find one in an old yard. They were metro based, and the pump was designed for the a series. Actually got to speak to the company that made them.
I have fitted (took me weeks of work) a power rack from a Clio. An awfull lot of metal work and tea drinking. All the hydrulic lines are in, and ready to run. This really was just an exercise to see if it could be done. Yet to find out the results.

Ah cool stuff, I must admit I was curious to know what it was. Let us know the results when you take it out. Lovely looking engine bay by the way.

Cheers,

Jon.

see, i've always wondered, i have always been led to believe that engines need to be painted in high temperature engine paint? i have seen some pretty special looking engines with some crazy colours, and wondered if you could just use some normal car paint, but with an oil resistant lacquer?

hi Bigrob
Just nip down to your local car paint supplyers (not Halfords) and they will put an additive in any colour you want.
Easy as that

You will get no trolling from me :) My dream is to put an aussie ford turbo 6 into a 64 or 68 mustang fastback :) that will please the trolls. I think you did an awesome job. I also hear that the UK mini steering racks arn't so good so you also get around those issues too, should be good.

Hi,

I am doing up my engine bay now and am about to go to town on the subframe with the wire brush. Whats a good paint to put on it that is durable and can you get it in lots of colours?

Thanks,

RodAndTom
