My name is Gareth. I live in Milton Keynes, for those of you who have not heard of it it is about 50 miles north of london.
I recently got given a mini mayfair 1989 off a family member and im interested in customising. At the moment im thinkin of getting a re-spray but I am not quite sure where to get one done so I figure this would be the best place to ask for advice. Im also looking to do the usual, ie: New seats, wheel arches etc etc......
Anyone else here from around the Milton Keynes area? Also does anyone have any idea how much I would be thinking of paying for a complete re-spray. At the moment it is light blue with NO rust but I want it metallic (darkish) red.
Thanks for you help.
This seems like a nice place to stick around and chat so you'll all probably be seeing a lot of me in the near future.

Andrew from Brisbane in Queensland Australia.
I am currently in the middle of putting a Toyata Starlet GTi (Jap Import) engine into my 1977 Clubman GT, nicknamed "Ël Gato".
The starlet motor is approximately 40lbs lighter than the A-series and produces some 134 hp standard from its 1.3 litre DOHC, four valve turbo and intercooled engine.
We have one bloke here in Australia who has got 450bhp out of his - frightening. :saywhat:
If anyone in the UK wants to know more, just post.
Regards,
Andrew

My name is Millie. I live in Califonia, U.S.A. My husband Julio owns a 1967 Austin Mini & I just bought a 1968 project mini. I need lots of advice and help with it. You see, I have the shell, and the engine, most of the rest of its parts are in a box, I was told that everything was there when I bought the mini except a few minor things, and of course the front end. Well when I got it home I compared it to my husband's and discovered there are more than a few things missing. the whole front end is missing including the subframe, inner wings, fenders, front seats, exhaust system, windshield wiper system, dash, but I have all the gauges, I think. I have been to alot of different websites, that is how I found this place...just searching the web. It looks like most of the parts are really expensive. Does anyone have any idea where to get used parts for cheap? I found 1 site in the uk, but shipping will be a fortune for me. At this point I'm not sure if I did the right thing, or I shoulda just bought a running complete project for around 1000 pounds...I really would like the satisfaction of building it from the ground up..but so far I am just hitting dead ends or falling into black holes with what seems to be my moneypit (mini). Please help!!
Thanks,
Millie at [email protected]

Mini Spares
Mini Speed
Mini Sport
I think Mini Mania is American.
Do you know anyone in England, I was thinking you could gradually buy all the parts you need and have someone in England keep them for you, then once you have all the bits you need, have them all sent in one go, with one shipping charge?

Do you have any contacts in the UK that can get second hand parts from the breakers (wreckers here in Australia).
That may save you some big bucks. :smartass:
