Juju, just read through from the start and the little fella looks really cool. I'm glad you have resolved the issues you had. Remember it took years to need this work doing so a couple of years to put it right again won't hurt. Time is a great healer as they say!

You seem to have this one well in control from where i'm sitting.

Good look and keep the faith!!!!!!!!!

Thanks very much for the encouragement, shellspeed. Hopefully he should be back on the road this time next year, maybe even before. :dontgetit:

foams foam. At the end of the day you can change the seat base in an hour should you wear it out. >_<

Cheers you. What about the backs? Ooooh, can you do balck & gold vinyl Mr Bertie Retrims?

Mr Bertie Retrims?

:dontgetit:

Of course I can >_<

THe back are rarely in a position where they need to be replaced, mainly because we're not leaning against it 75% of the time, we're to busy clinging onto the steering wheel for dear life!

A certain moth-eaten 30 year old came back from the blasters this weekend. Not in bad shape for his age. (I mean the car)

Both front wings look like this & will be replaced.

Floor is pretty solid, really.

Just where it meets the sills & arches have gone at the front:

(also the vent plate thingie)

N/S arch:

Boot floor at both corners:

And you can see daylight through the companion bin jobbies.

All in all, he's pretty damn solid for a 1979 leyland.

Am impressed. And proud of him. :D

The first of many fat cheques has been handed over :- . Now to make a decision on panelling....

Not bad that - someone I know sent their 1969 Dodge Charger to the blasters and lets just say there were some big holes where a Dodge Charger used to be. Blasting or dipping is the only true way to know what you are dealing with. Brave and turns out in this case - good decision.

Keep up the good work

Yep, he certainly is a blank canvas now!

Looks so different, and soooooo much better. When the shell is just covered in the crumbly orange stuff, you always fear the worst, but in this case, it didn't turn out that way. :dontgetit:

Not sure I should replace the front panel now. It's a little bent, but not holey.

Can't wait to get him patched up, black & shiny again. :)

If you go to Bee 'n Queue they have little test cards of paint colours. They're much easier to use than toe nails.

Tommy's been taken to the bodyshop & will be patched up & sprayed beginning next week!

Patched inner & outer sills, new footwells, new rear valance, new wings, patched boot floor and the panel-I-can-never-remember-the-name-of-that-the-eyeball-vents-sit-in.

He's gonna be shiny & solid very soon. ;)

Weirdly enough, Tommy Steele's GT is in front of him in the queue at the bodyshop. ;)

If I could be rude Ju - how much for the blasting and the paint job?

SWMBO's GT is going to be done soon and my usual painter may have 'pulled out'.
