Greetings form the US of A.

I need some advice on finishing up my carpeting installation please. The stuff I used fit very well, actually, and only needed a bit of trimming, but I do have a few trouble spots, right near the shifter gator and the e-brake cover that I can't figure out.

Up front, the "wings" of carpeting that frame and surround the shifter boot (which is screwed to the floor with the stock oval frame) flare up and need to be affixed, it looks like, to the metal of the seat rail or the cross-peice supporting the shift mechanism. Is it OK to use some sort of industrial-strength Velcro here, perhaps, so that I can get the carpeting out if need-be?

In the rear, the diamond-shaped dags of material as well as the sides that frame the e-brake cover also stick up. As per the instructions that came with the e-brake cover, I glued it to the metal floor on the sides, but I did NOT glue the front or rear, as I didn't want to foul the e-brake cable.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to nip-tuck the material around the boots for the cleanest-possible finished look? This is the first interior makeover I've ever done, so if anything you see here is obviously wrong or amateur-looking, I'd welcome tips on how to fix it, but please don't scorn my ignorance if you can resist the temptation. >_< .

PS - here's a pic of the finished product with the newly-installed seat covers I got (from Emma A. over there in the UK). None of the carpet is glued down yet, due to the issue I'm asking about here as well as the fact that I need to pull out the passenger-side carpet later to weld in a patch.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give!

Well to sort out both the gear stick and the e-brake you need to remove the metal trims which hold the leather for them to the floor and reattach them above the carpet after trimming back the carpet a little, this will give it a nice clean and tidy finish, im afraid the hump at the front under the heater is there to stay and how the carpets are designed , suppose you could cut out a section at the bottom of the tunnel to make the carpet sit flatter and glue it down

Hmmm... so actually screw the plate that's holding down the shifter boot ON TOP OF the carpet as well? It doesn't look like it would be large enough to handle so much fabric - doesanyone happen to have a close-up photo of how you did up the fabric with that solution?

Also, I have no metal clip/plate for the e-brake - there was no cover at all on there before I added the one I have in there now.

You should be able to buy a trim which you can screw down, you have to drill into the floor and use self tappers to attach it down and you hide the edges of the carpet underneath this and it tides it all up

something that looks like this

That looks quite nice - definitely better than the stock black fastener plate. I'm not sure how comfortable I am about screwing through the floor with self-tappers though...
