i have twin tanks and aston cap covers and have lost all my mini keys. I drilled the boot lock and luckily adn't locked the doors. i am planning on doing the rear end welding work soon and need to get the caps off to remove the fuel tanks... whats the best method of getting into them? i was lucky when i got the second filler cap it used the same key as the first so i think there weren't too many variations on the key numbers... anyone got some spare keys i could try?

any mini specilist near to you? southam mini and metro centre have a set of the keys but i think there only door ones, not very many of them made at all!

if you ring a mini specialist and ask i guess

thats what i'm hoping to avoid.... they are metal caps too, i hadve done other cars with a lump hammer and cold chisel (smashed lock into tank and removed outer) that will be my last resort, tanks are coming out anyway so i an get debris out later... i'd prefer not to have to though.

find a local youth, pikey, chav, whatever you want to call the little buggers, give him 20 quid and a bottle of cider and the locks off, might have away with most of the rest of it too though

no seriously, talk to a locksmith, most of them will know how to get it off

Gav, send a PM to bud666.... he's a locksmith by trade (or at least he used to be) and will know how to get the fuel caps off I'm sure! ;)
