How do all,

Bloody car has been fine all year, it has its MOT then the dial reads 65666miles this week, and all goes tits up.

Im having ignition trouble, everything has been changed for the best, bar the points and condenser.

I have a 1990 Mini City E just wondering if anyone knows the model of dizzy and what the dwell angle should be. I have the meter but Haynes mite be wrong for the reading (not the first time i mite add).

Cheers everyone.

Nate

According to my Haynes book of lies, these are the angles depending on distributor type (and no i can't remember which of the Lucas ones look like which)

Lucas 23d4 and 25d4.................60 degrees +/- 3
lucas 45d4:
non-sliding contacts...................51 +/- 5
sliding contacts.........................57 +/- 5

Ducellier...................................57 +/- 2 degrees 30 minutes

Hope this helps

Educate me please. When did the Mini switch to electronic ignition? I'm surprised Rover was still using points in 1990.

I believe the 998 used points until the end, only the 1275 mini had a leccy dizzy... in carbed form, and then obviously with the SPi the dizzy became just a shell with wires attached and eventually lost altogether with the MPI .

Just had a look at the Metro book, and even that says the 998 never got a leccy dizzy... only the 1275's
