i also use them when replacing the head gasket

it brings the mini up to a more comfortable height to work on

Fasten carpet to the slope of the ramp and leave about 10" hanging off the leading edge. This way you drive onto the carpet first and hence the ramp can't move. Works eveytime.
Bending the coners of the ramps won't work on conrete, block paving etc and will knacker your drive (if you're lucky enough to have one).

I have a length of wood which fits across the width of my garage and wedges against the brick piers in the walls. Ramps go up against the wood & they can't slip anywhere.
