I'm worried that I might need to change my indicator, but they seem really expensive...
At what point are they scrap? The indicators still work, but I cant seem to get the horn or headlight flasher to work. I know thay are on the same cirucit and am checking, but just thinking ahead...

Because they are fairly complicated things to make and now that Rover isn't buying a thousand a month the cost of producing them is high.

Yep, I dare say they're assembled by hand.

But that does make them quite repairable too.

I had a problem with my indicator stalk ..... There is a small ball bearing and Copper pin that kept dropping out due to a very small crack in the plastic causing the springs to force the mechanism apart and pin to move!

The stalk is close to £45 from Mini spares ... They are fixable but you need 3 pairs of hands and are very very fiddley. and be carefull as you take it apart as the springs shoot out and can easily be lost for a lifetime. lol

I presume it will be just a wire thats come loose if its the Horn and the Full beam flasher

That'll be it: £20 for the stalk 'n £25 for the large collection of springs 'n ball bearings shot around the Lucas factory :D

Do a continuity test on the connector block, across the appropriate switch contacts before to rip it to bits.

Agreed.I tried repairing the stalk on my 205 when the horn switch stopped working. It was like trying to squeeze an octopus into a matchbox. In the end I managed to get all bar the headlights working and drove to the breakers during daylight.Turned out to be the earth on the horn itself. :)

Been there, done that, I once bought a second hand set at show for a tenner to replace mine busted ones (the plastic bit the stork fits in snapped, so had to bodge it to work) only the set I bought also didn’t work and spent hours pulling both sets apart and reassembling to make one good set, but I got there in the end.

Floor, wall, coffee cup and eye generally!

I think they're called 'Jesus-Springs' normally since that's what you scream as they go pinging over your shoulder or in your face !
