Hi there Folks..
I have recently purchased a Oct 2004 Mini Cooper and unfortunately the dialls and digital speedometer are all in KPH. My wife and i are from the North of Ireland origionally and are used to dealing with MPH. We now live in donegal in Ireland make quite a few visits north of the border (still in MPH).
My question is this. Is there an easy way of letting me know what speed i am doing in MPH rather the KPH. Ideally if i could get a replacement dial showing both KPH and MPH that would be ideal (keeping in mind that my car is calibrated to KPH)
I have had a look online for any overlays etc but can't seem to find any.
Maybe i should also add at this point that i am not mechanically minded at all, so anything too complicated would probably be way over my head
thanks in advance for your help
Noel

Does a new car like that not have both mph and kph readings on it?
Even an ancient fiesta we had had that on!
You could always make your own overlay - convert kph to mph at, say, 30kph, 50kph etc divisions, and mark this on the overlay. A lot cheaper than messing around with the dials!

I agree.. i was very surprised to see the lack of MPH.. i may have a go at making my own overlay. I am not having much luck finding any on the net..
It does state in the manual that the digital readout can display MPH, but i am having no luck in figuring out how to change it over..
thanks in advance for all your replies

If it was originally sold in a European country and not part of the UK it would only have Km, like all cars.
Oh hang on, I've just realised this thread is about a MINI. Sorry, I thought you were talking about a Mini. Yes the same speedo head will display both on the digital section but it's probably not something you can change yourself if it's a Euro spec car. There are many options on cars with multiplexed wiring that can only be set using the deiagnostic computer at the main dealer. A MINI garage may be able to switch it to MPH for you.
