think its a speedwell or a radford... not sure which, but its an original old 60's thing... i re-made the main guage housing as the original had different holes...

Couple of questions I have, firstly, is yours also fibreglass like mine is? The seller said it was a NOS one he had lying around. Nice chap he was, seems to know his Minis quite a fair bit, said he had a Crayford conversion on one of his Minis back in the day so no reason to not assume he's telling the truth! Just wanted to know if yours was fibreglass too so I havn't been conned and paid too much haha

 

Secondly, when facing you does the main pod housing face slightly towards you? I offerered mine up to my shell the other day and it seems as if the gauge pod slightly faces more towards the drivers line of sight. Not a problem, as I actually prefer it like that!

 

Thirdly, how did you attach it to the top dash rail? I can see from your pic that it looks like screws, did you fit it with the windscreen in as it looks quite difficult to get any kind of fixing in at the back of dash when the windscreen is in situ. I was thinking something like stainless rivnuts, fitted from underneath 

 

Lastly, does the bottom of the gauge pod sit nicely onto the top side of the bottom dash rail? Mine looks like there could be a slight gap between them, but I have a feeling that gap will close if you use the padded bottom dash rail like you have in your pic

 

Sorry for the essay, and apologies for the amount of questions, I'm curious to how it will fit as your dash was the one I have wanted for the best part of nearly 2 years haha

Lovin' this. I was planning on doing a brushed aluminium and black vinyl dash but I am going to re-think my design now I've seen this. I love the fact that you get all the dials you want but still get a usable space instead of a pokey little glove box.

That dash dates back to 1961 and I think it was made by a company called Marshal. My buddy had on in his 1961 850 Mini when it was new. The speedo is from a Riley 1.5:

No problem, I really like it, I'm attempting to make my own dash but it's nowhere near this standard.

it was easy its mdf covered in 3m vinyl look wood, then the mdf was cut to suit , brackets put on the rear and then 2.3 mm alloy strips were bashed with a soft hammer to follow the shape of the mdf . screwed on with small screws , once ready wood filler to match the 3m was put along the seam .   you can copy it guys , I have no problem with this as this is what the forums are for.

nice, I like it, it looks so much more pro than mdf, looks like a work of art. haha.

 

ive just had a go at making a temp dash for mine, I want a full interior refurb some point soon, so ill get a nice dash done then, just kinda bodged one out of ply for now.

ill throw a picture up when its in the car, need to wire the centre clock conversion loom first.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to remove the speedo cable on a rover austin mini mayfair as cant get the white lock off any one help??

great , im here to help, post up some pics!!   I went the mdf route as its what I had lying around , my wife said I should of used a nice piece of solid timber , but I find mdf more for giving and easy to throw away if you ******* up.

just came across this on minimania website, I think it's gorgeous. very aviator style.. a bit bell&ross.

 

 

don't suppose anyone has any more pics of it? It's an american car... looking at the gear change I'd say its an engine swap with OEM gauges in it...
