Minipick-up - The new dash layout looks top notch, where have you mounted your tweeters? Are you going to enter any sound off comps with your setup?

The tweaters are mounted up in the roof lining. I won't be entering any sound off comps, don't think it's up to that.

I've been slowly building a custom dashboard for my mini over the past few months. I started out with a sheet of 9mm MDF, some leatherette, and an idea of what I wanted it to look like. Fast forward a few months and it's finally nearly done. I've got a few tweaks to make and I need to redo my binnacle surround as for now the white plastic is on show, due to having issues with my previous surround.

Here's what I have today:

Posted Image

I've fitted a TIM Rev counter, from minispares.
Two 4" Pioneer 200 watt speakers - can't remember where I got them, online somewhere. I'll look into it if anyone's interested.
Two new indicator lamps from ebay (bought in a set of four)
A power lamp (from the above set of four, choices are red, blue, green or amber I believe)
and a push to start button, wired in parallel to the normal ignition switch, so that it can be converted back to original with ease should I choose to sell the car as original at a later date.

The dash is padded with 'fluff' from boyes, black leatherette for the main dash and cream leatherette for the door and surround once it's complete. I'll be updating my build thread of my open classic later tonight with more detailed pictures and progression pictures (Clicky)

Any opinions or thoughts would be appreciated!

Really like it Paddy! Looking good. How did you achieve the soft leather covering? It looks good and squidgy!

Thanks dude! Yeah it is squidgy haha. It's just about 1.5cm thick fluffed padding, cotton type stuff from boyes.. was about £2 a meter, then covered that with the leatherette :)

I saw one of these on ebay, left it, then decided i wanted it after it ended.
It took forever, but i finally got another, and for a great price!
It was in a bit of a state, but after some time and work, I got it looking like this.

Never actually seen another one of these in a car, so I'm pretty pleased with it!
Its Autoplas

sorry for late reply the gauges are standard 1997 mini mpi ones and the dash was just done high gloss black using matt black as a base and around six coats of lacquer .
