Thats where the heater disperses its heat, so I'm guessing they're just there to direct the heat?

My Cooper has a Walnut dash in it at the moment, but I don't like it. So I'm going to make a template of it and make my own carbon one! I'll post when it's done.

3M make something called di-noc which is really convincing faux carbon (and other finishes), comes in a range of coulours too, would be easier to recover than make anew one, also you can buy off the shelf carbon dashes from minispares andwood and pickett, though they're pricey.

3M carbon is the work of the devil. Why fake the real deal? IF it were gloss I can see the attraction but its matt.......I have 3M carbon on the back of my phone as a bit of scratch protection but wouldn't dream of putting it near my car.

But thats just my personal opinion.......I think it looks cheap and nasty

Thought I had added mine but not so here we go. Lots of alcantara with removable wheel and some digital gauges. now with both digital speedo and rev gauge a vid of them turning on Power on

I have all the things I need to make a new carbon one, so i'm not too fussed! And personally, I also despise fake carbon

Try putting a thin coat of resin over and polishing?
I'm not really into carbon though, I used a wood grain one that's already glossy and laquered it.

Here is my dash. Done it all myself including painting and welding. Still need to fit other 2 gauges and source a 52mm smiths clock

Recently done up the interior of my Mini because it was a bit rough before. I put in what I thought was a custom made walnut dash but I've now found out it's out of one of the later Japanese Mini's with air conditioning.

This is my dash, its a little plain though I'm on the hunt for something different but not seen much that catches my eye yet.
