Right, well more work done today.

Stripped a little more off the the engine.

Split the gearbox off....nearly:

Found out that there were even more little bolts holding it on that I thought (even though Purple Tom told me they were there :))

2 little bolts:

Sheared a bolt getting the crank sensor off:

Removing the crank pully, not sure if this is the correct method but my bent screwdriver came to the rescue:

Getting the engine remanufactured by Vaux, a touch on the expensive side but I'm hoping it will mean it (the replacment) can do another 100,000miles, then the price seems more reasonable.

It end up going up to the midlands, I had to phone the company to make sure they still have bits for the old c16se left. Luckly they had a few left, was worried for a bit though.

As for the oil filter, I did contemplate draining the oil but decided that would just get very messy. I even managed to spill loads on the floor anyway by tipping the engine over, ops :)

Besides, I want to leave Vauxhall something to do :)

you have to get the inlet manifold reversed because of differences in the sprint bulkhead or something? my standard one fitted OK.

i just wedged a screw driver in to get my flywheel and crank pully off too! the vauxhall starter motors do far more damage than a screw driver ever could! lol

only broke a bolt off in the crank sensor holding bracket anyway! itll be reet!

looking good though man! you might beat me to getting mine on the road at this speed!

I dont have to reverse the manifold but when I looked at it it seemed to give a better airflow path. The proof will be when it's all fitted though so I hope I'm right!

Tom's helpfully pointed out the flywheel and clutch needs to come off so that will be this afternoons fun. :)

Right well after Mr helpful pointed out I needed to take the clutch off, back I went into the garage:

The clutch dosn't look too bad (does it?) but think a new one may be better:

Tried to lift it on my own but just ended up making lots of noise and not moving the engine. Where is Mr Stig when you need him. So I called a friend of mine and we both easily lifted it into the car, to my surprise (Thank you Frenchy):

IKEA bag put to a decent use - dont tell Luc :(

So all ready to get dropped off in the morning :)

Oh and won some seats on ebay but you'll have to wait a bit to see them.

Hey Stiggy,

Get well soon.

The engine has gone up near your way.

I can't claim to have introduced the blue tape of greatness though that was Adzu (or something like that - the chap with the amazing mini with lots of carbon fibre bits).

It is good though, it doesn't leave a sticky residue which is handy
