when i bought my mini we were told it was teal blue, i then looked at some paint and its definately NOT teal. does anyone have a pic of a tahiti blue mini which is the non-metallic tahiti blue. i just want to confirm the colour of my car before i get parts sprayed, even though a paint supplier would be able to identify the colour.

Is this your '98 shell? If so it's easy. There were only three blues offered as part of the standard/optional range in '98. Hawaiian blue (really unpopular light powder blue colour), surf blue (turquoise by any other name) and Tahiti blue which is a nice dark blue colour. Easy to tell the three apart.

However there were some special editions in '98 using Paul Smith Blue (a very blue shade of purple) and at least one other blue shade which I can't remember the name of.

So if it isn't a special edition it should be easy to work out what it is.

Careful as there is 3 different tahiti blues, theres:

Tahiti Blue
Tahiti Blue Pearlescent (rover)
Tahiti Blue Pearlescent (MG)

I've never seen a Tahiti Blue car, Tahiti Blue Pearlescent (rover) was first seen on the rover 220 coupe, first used on a mini in 1993 with the Mini Tahiti and later on cooper and cooper sportpacks. The colour used on a mini was metallic. I have a Mini Tahiti.

im not sure what mine is now, it looks lighter than the cooper tahiti blue

Tahiti blues a strange colour!! On a overcast day it can look really dark but when the suns out it's a mixture of colour and can appear a lighter shade, my favourate mini colour! :grin:

thats my mate steves car. It is a mini thirty but the previous owner stripped it of its original features which is prob why the similarity in plate no's...
