update:

done some fiberglassing,

did 4 layers of jsut resin, now done one coat of aircraft grade resin and matting, its pretty strong already but going to do another layer or so

It's better to just apply resin to the material to make it stiff, then apply extra fibreglass matting to the inside of the construction, for strength. That way the outside can be made smoother far more easily.

tom - two hefty bolts throu the bottom throu the rear bench

Geehawk - yes on some encolusers but if you look at the earlyer pics you can see that i have a base, therefore no way of working on the inside.

So your not planning on cutting out holes to fit the speakers then :)

With correct amounts of resin already applied, there should be no reason not to cut out the holes and gain access through those. They're big enough to get a small child through :)

nice work there, just outta interest, why not create an amp rack outta fibreglass to fit on the rear seat back????would finish it of nicely :)

also with the resin part, if you put the matting on the inside, you make up what we here in SA call "milkshake mix" - basically, its fibreglass resin mixed with bodyfiller and hardner - makes a milkshake like mix(duh) that when applied goes on very smooth, and hardens nicely!!it is also a lot easier to sand smooth!!!!

but still great work!!!

oh the milkshake mix goes on the outside obviously :)

trust me im the one with the enclosure sat in my garage there isnt enough access to do it properly, i would rather do it properly and spend more time sanding than trying to do short cuts and not have a as strong finish.

I'm intrigued - how do you measure the volume for an install like this before building it?
