Seen as I'm going to evening college to learn bodywork, I thought I may as well take advantage and 'practice' on some of my own parts. :P

My £4 Boot lid looks alot better for a good rub down, fill and primer.

The petrol tank was a bit shabby and rusty so that's now primed and waiting for a couple of coats of black

Attached File  tank1.jpg   78.85K   12 downloads

My painting is getting better - no run's in either panel.

I don't think I would want to try and paint a full car.

I'm going to take my wheels in next week for a prime and a few of coats of Cashmere Gold (might get the lecturer to paint the finish coats :) ).

Today is a good day, the back end is very nearly done!

The rear valance is on:

The underside of the boot floor is painted in some nice rubbery black paint:

Attached File  underboot.jpg   93.38K   56 downloads

and the joints on the rear section are almost smoothed out and ready for a splash of primer.

I've managed to dye my hand and part of my arm black with the POR15, but that's life...

Andy is a happy boy! :techsupport: Beer O'clock me thinks!

More progress.

I had stopped repairing the back arches a little while ago to concentrate on the boot, but as that is 99% done I thought I'd crack on with them.

At the front of the drivers side rear wheel arch, there was some suspicious looking white stuff under the flakes... more 'structural' body filler. Yay. Out comes the grider to reveal:

Attached File  arch1.jpg   123.05K   42 downloads

So I plated it up to make it a bit more solid than the filler!

Attached File  arch2.jpg   132.26K   42 downloads

Then I finished plating up the back of that arch

Attached File  arch3.jpg   86.55K   31 downloadsAttached File  arch4.jpg   86.65K   33 downloads

As it turns out, the passenger side rear arch was like new... which is nice! :)

I had managed to snap one of the bolts when I was taking the back subframe off, so I spent an hour trying to drill and tap a new hole. Then I got board, so I went and bought a repair panel. I didn't want to fit it all as the heel board was solid, so I just cut of the bit I needed and welded it in:

Attached File  heelboard1.jpg   131.61K   45 downloads

With that done, it was back to the grinder to clean the heel board and arches up ready for a coat of black rubbery stuff. I think I need a new wire wheel...

Attached File  grinder1.jpg   117.76K   36 downloads

All looking nice and solid underneath now. Hopefully, it will stay that way...

Attached File  arch5.jpg   131.71K   58 downloadsAttached File  arch6.jpg   144.87K   51 downloads

I never though welding would involve so much hammering, it's a good job I like hammering...

The girlfriend is working tomorrow, so I'm aloud to go and play. :( I think i'll start stripping and refinishing the rear subframe. It's a shame my new brake pipe's haven't come yet.

We've been busy sorting mortgages and stuff today, so not much progress.

I finally managed to get into the booth at college on Tuesday, so me and MiniMadMotorMan (aka John Boy, aka Barry.. don't ask) splashed some Rover Cashmere Gold onto my freshly blasted and primed cosmics:

Attached File  wheels1.jpg   137.01K   28 downloads

I was allowed a couple of hours curled up on the kitchen floor with a pot of two pac black and some brushes. I think the end result looks bloody good! Shame I only managed to get one done in two hours!

Attached File  wheels2.jpg   151.83K   72 downloads

Two pac smells funny in a nice kind of way. Much more of that and I think the world would have started to get a little blurry...

Hopefully I'll get the other three done tomorrow and make a start on stripping, painting and rebuilding the back subby.

Been to college again on Tuesday. Managed to get a few coats of laquer on the Cosmics, so they're nice and shiney.

Attached File  wheels3.jpg   152.88K   48 downloads

Also good a couple of coats of black on the petrol tank and strap.

Attached File  tank2.jpg   80.24K   27 downloads

I've just been over to the container and whipped the drivers door of so that I can take it college to repair it.

Attached File  door1.jpg   138.54K   23 downloads

No snapped hinge bolts. yay! :-

It needs the bottom corner repairing and a new skin, hopefully not too much work...

I'm off down to the big smoke this weekend, so I won't get anything else done >>_< That said, I've got 10 days with no work soon, so hopefully I'll get the shell finished. Hopefully...

I took the drivers door in to college to start repairing it last night. Guess what I found under the paint... Yep... body filler and rust! Not really a big surprise with this car's history! I ended up chopping down the door bottom repair panel and starting the repairs:

Attached File  door4.jpg   107.18K   22 downloadsAttached File  door3.jpg   130.72K   25 downloadsAttached File  door2.jpg   116.01K   22 downloadspg]

With whats left of the panel I'll repair the corners and fill the gaps. At least it's only the door bottom, shouldn't be too obvious.

What do they paint the repair panels with? It smealt really wierd when it was buring of the panel....

It's been a two steps forward, one step back kind of day...

I started the day off by stripping down my replacement subframe. I snaped off both rear mounting points on the original. I manage to snap five bolts in the trailing arm brackets, followed by 2 stud extractors and about half a million drill bits!

I gave that up as a bad idea and moved on to the shell. I got my grinder out and took my frustration out on the drivers side wing and A Panel.

Attached File  wingoff1.jpg   153.16K   38 downloads

When I'd calmed down I tidied it up, made a small repair to the inner wing and painted it all in POR15 (Frost have sent me the wrong colour...)

Attached File  wingoff2.jpg   115.32K   40 downloads

Also painted the backs of the new panels and the shocker bracket.

Attached File  winandapanel.jpg   114.86K   17 downloads

While the paint was drying, I had a little poke at the surface rust on the A pillar....

Attached File  apost1.jpg   137.24K   45 downloads

Then I went home and put my head in the oven. That didn't work either, damn thing's ellectric!

I've got the week off work, so I can spend all week getting *Drunk or yellow human water* off with my car...
