Hi guys im starting a project with my mini clubman thats been sat in the garage for to long, decided to try and replicate a classic racing clubman and the one that stands out the most is the car that Richard Longman drove in 1978 and 1979 to win the British Saloon Car Championships but after weeks searching the internet for info i have only been able to uncover two pictures of it and very little info so if anybody could help with pics or provide any info i would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance.

Took these at Stanford Hall (I think) in 2006. Not sure if it's a replica or the original - I'm sure someone here will enlighten us!

Would love to visit his workshop and talk to him bet he has some stories to tell, but sadly live hours away so cant make the pilgrimage.

Cheers for all the pics so far does anyone know any of the specs? I found a little review of it from autosport 1979 that said it was kicking out 105bhp but dont know any of the engine specs?

Thanks for the help

And no doubt you were in nappies or just a stain in your dads underpants.
I seem to remember it was based on a South African GT motor Ie GTS so used big valve S head and twin 1 1/2 Su's though I would ahve thought twin 1 3/4 would have been more like it. As he proably prepaired tha car himself you could also find out the spec there as well

Apologies for recommeding another message board, but there is a 1275GT section of Specialist Mini Forums, run by Kay from MiniWorld. The guys seem pretty knowledgable and will probably be able to help you with more info about GT Challenge/Longman spec.
