Hi there i have a engine that im storing at the moment which is lying outside of the car.

Should i put a tea spoon of oil down the bores to stop it corroding. Also i took the head off the other day and a little tiny bit off coolant went down the bore but i cleared this out as much as i could.

Will the oil make it rust faster f theres been abit of water down the bore i got alot of the water out and the bore was dry.

Shouldi put the oil down the bores ?

Thanks

Do it just to coat them and keep them clean. Don't forget to do it again when you take the car out of storage along with turning the engine over to get oil pressure up.

How long you sticking the car away for?

the engine is out of the car. will the little bit of coolant that went down the bore mess everything up now ? Im really worrying about it ?

I torqued the head right back down so will it rust up ? I cleard the water with loads of tissue paper and turned the engine like a hundred times by hand wiping the water on the sides of the bores until it was dry or at least almost dry.

Use a long spouted oil can to get the oil right down where it needs to be. Using a tea spoon would be pointless.

taffy has it - you need to use a gun with a squirter/spout to hit the bore wall - you wont get it all anyway...

a teasspoon of oil will sit nicely in the dish on the piston and not hit the wall at all...
