Congratulations!

Can't wait to see the mini when it's all finished, it will no doubt be a fitting tribute to Oli. It's a shame his family and friends had to go through so much to get this far, how anyone can put them through that at such a difficult time I'll never understand.

I'd be interested to know exactly what your involvement in this is ishy to make such a judgemental post? Are you affected enough from the outcome of this case to make those bitter comments? Where did you get your quote from? Why post that up after such a long absence on here? What the family do with the money from the case (that is assuming they receive it) really is entirely up to them but his mum has been kind enough to keep us up to date and let us know she will be continuing to finish Oli's project with the help and encouragement of his friends to his specifications out of respect to him; it is a shame a few others cannot show this same respect.

Seeing how quickly the hearing went it seems there was no doubt who the money rightly belongs to, great news

Ok lets just hope ALL the 5K goes back into a simple basic engine and this wasnt all a bitter family feud fought out and attacked against simon here on this BB'

I wont hold my breath

Why should the money go into a basic engine? It should be able to buy exactly the engine Oli originally wanted. If you are suggesting that our friend Oli's death was orchestrated as part of some ludicrous fraud that ended up with the participants gaining nothing (because they only got out the money they put in originally) then I'll thank you never to return to our forum again. That's one of the most distasteful things I've ever heard.

Ishy's comments are unfathomably tactless but perhaps we can show him the charity he seems to lack and assume he meant feud not fraud, as he typed.

I can't see that either can be justified though.

Thanks Dan, the voice of common sense there for sure.

David, whoever you are, kindly do not make such ill informed assumptions of such a distasteful nature.

The specification of the engine Oli wanted is very well documented here on the forum, as are our dealings with morspeed, and what we have all been put through.

the engine was paid for IN PART by Oli's father, as part of a deal between them for automotive work Oli had done, and would continue to do on his fathers cars free of charge.

When he died, Oli's car was not finished, and it was my idea to finish it for him. With approval from Oli's mum Carol, we set about fund raising to help pay for the remaining work needed to get the car finished.

the incredibly kind people of this forum, among others, donated money to the cause, and we raised a total of around £2000, every penny of which still sits in a savings account gathering interest, ready to pay for the completion of the car.

The project has been put on hold due to the on going issues with getting an engine for the car.

As most people now know, we did collect an engine, almost 18 months ago, that sadly did not reflect what Oli ordered at all, and was eventually deemed highly unsafe by a jointly agreed independant engineer.

This week, we have been to a court hearing with Morson, where he was ordered to repay the value of the purchased engine in full.

Long before the court hearing, we have been in talks with several engine builders, about the possibility of building a replacement engine, to an identical spec of that ordered by Oli, keeping true to what he wanted in every detail.

Sadly, as the engine Oli hoped to buy from morspeed was an ex-demo engine, the price was reduced significantly, and as such, the amount to be repayed is still considerably short of the sum required for it's replacement from another company.

Please don't put words in my mouth David, your quote was clearly edited to suit your own uninformed opinion.

This isn't being done for the benefit of any one person at all, Carol is not a mini enthusiast, but a mother who has lost her son, and wishes to honour his memory by completing that which Oli so desperately wanted, exactly how he wanted it.

personally, I think it's a most fitting tribute, that can and should be appreciated by everyone.

Thank you to everyone else for your continued support as always, I really look forward to being able to show you all some progress at long last, hopefully in the new year.

Sorry typo’ should have read feud ( i must have had fraud on my mind). Basic as you may be able to get it running unlike the 16v.

It reads to me like no one here knows or is telling the full story <- typical BB’ then

It reads to me like you're a friend of morson who's been listening to the *cow poo* he's been telling various people trying to make us look bad.

I'm sick of hearing all this ''you don't know the full story *man danglies*''. I'm not out to fool anybody, and contrary to popular belief, I NEVER set out to damage morspeed. as I've said before, it was ME that recommended Oli go to Morspeed in the first place, as I am a former fan, and have several morspeed components myself.

the FULL story has been posted on here in every detail by myself, and not a single fact or detail has been left out.

there are countless stories that Morson has told his customers to try and save his reputation, none of which he decided to bring up in court when he had the chance.

now if you will please stop calling me a liar, and accept that the fact that the courts have made a decision, and the right one at that.

As for your ''basic'' comment, it's clearly a cheap attack at the technical ability of those associated with building Oli's car.

an A-series engine modifed to take a 16v K series head is NOT a complicated thing to install. I'll admit that the machine work involved in fitting the bike head to the A series block is very specialist, but installing and maintaining a K-headed A series engine in a mini isn't exactly the hardest thing in the world is it?

Mintec Mini Spares who have the car currently have been in business for 25 years, and built HUNDREDS of minis in that time, from standard dailly use cars, to hill climbers highly tunned A-series track cars, and several vauxhall, rover, and honda 8 and 16v conversions. they are MORE than capable.

if you do not reply, I won't mind. this forum is clearly better off without you anyway.

Now, can we please stop arguing and focus on the topic purpose!

ohh i see where the slanderious comments are coming from, look through her previous posts and you will come across a website link, on that link is her name caroline and a mighty mini racing sponsor of......morspeed, strange how joined in '05 and most her comments are in this thread about morspeed.

<- typical BB’ then smile.gif

just me whos wondering what the smeg that means

anyway yes, good out come overall, shame about the value of the engine no longer being sufficient any chance of talks to other k1100 builders to see if they have any old stock type units? perhaps old customers didnt collect/pay in time etc etc

Mini93 - It was actually David who has come on under my sign on, he did sign his original post, but not his subsequent ones.

I joined the forum because I saw it advertised in the back of a mini locally but I didn't find enough on the forum to keep me coming back to visit often and then I forgot about it. I don't know how many posts I've made as it doesn't give a value (only tick over) so I can't pass comment on them mostly being on this topic.

I can't see that I actually have the ability to remove my self from the forum, if one of the moderators wants to then please do so.

Good luck with getting it all finished.

Glad to hear the judge ruled in your favour, been watching this topic for a long time now, and was shocked that it had taken so long to be sorted.

You've all done well to keep going through all this, after being so close to Oli, nobody should have to go through what you've all been through, let alone have it dragged up time and time again.

Best of luck with the car, looking forward to seeing the result

I'm really pleased for you and Carol that you got the justice that you deserved.

All the best with gettting the mini the way Oli wanted.

Great news.
