I spose I could ask you lovely people about my bike dilema. . .
I have a bike. Its a lovely bike. Its pinkHowever, its SO hard to ride, I think its the tyres, they are more like ''off road'' tyres. . .
My problem is. . I want to start cycling a lot more, and I dont mean all these stunts like you have been doing. . . I mean long distance endurance. . . but its so so hard to ride, im pretty sure its the tyres. Do you think its better to sell it and get a new one, or just change the wheels and tyres to the thin ones?
Im not sure, if I did sell it, if I would get much for it, it is in good condition but ive had it years. . .
Raz
hey raz
i think to be honest the problem isn't the tyres, i ride with 2.1s (2.1 inches, which are fairly heavy duty off road tyres) on the road daily and, although not as efficient as road tyres, they aren't difficult. A couple of things to check would be the tyre pressures (are they pumped up!) but the problem is more likely the brakes. A simply check would be to unclip the brakes (usually not too hard to do but you may need three hands to put them back on!) and ride (slowly) to check if the brakes are constantly rubbing on the rim's thus making it hard to ride!
Have you got a pic of this gawgous pink bike?
yeah i work in bikehut so temptations come by alot!
raz, a slicker and thinner tyre can very easily be fitted which will be alot easier to pedal on the tarmac. Of course, for distance road usage, a 700 wheel is the best option, so really, a new road bike, but that all depends how much youre looking to spend, as good bike doesnt come cheap!
Thanks for the advice guys, I will have a think about it and check my tyres but im pretty sure my tyre pressure is ok. . .
My mum said she found it really hard when she borrowed my bike. . . so its not just me being un fit lol
hmmmm it all depends on how much that would cost as Ive just bought a new car lolget a road bike *raz*
you can get loads of differant tyers
Even off road ones !
simple for what you wana do
so may had well
joe
Ill post a pic of my bike tomorrow if I remember!

I used to have an old Peugeout racing bike when I was about 11, and I want another racing/road bike to commute to work and rack up the laps around the park. If anyone knows anyone selling a decent retro racer/road bike for under £50 let me know!
I've seen a couple of Orange Clockworks on eBay, any idea on how good they are?
Here you go, retro classic

Spec for the VP-Free is:
Boxxer Rides (the only bit I'm not that happy with, adjustable travel sounded great until you realise how bad the travel movement is)
Progressive 5th Element rear shock
Sram X-9 shifters, rear mech, cassette
Shimano XT front mech
Race-Face Diabolus Cranks, bars, seat post, stem, head set and Bottom Bracket
Hope FR hubs, Mavic rims, High Roller tyres
Hope M4 hydraulic disk brakes
Shimano M545 SPD pedals
Spec for the Roast is:
Marzocchi MXC forks (potentially the worst fork in the world?)
LX shifters, mechs, cassette, bottom bracket
FSA head set
Truativ Hussefelt cranks
Hayes HFX 9 hydraulic disk brakes
Kona bars and stem.
Race Face Evolve seat post
Sunn Ditch Witch rims, LX hubs, Tioga DH tyres
I'll get a picture when I get home tonight.

my track bike is a Custom Bates frame, using campag dropouts ect with:
Campagnolo seatpost (and seatpost bolt

Campagnolo Pista crankset
Campagnolo high flange hubs
Campagnolo Atlanta rims
Campagnolo headset
the only things on it that are not campag are the handlebars and headstem! all the stuff is vintage type stuff except the rims, which i could replace with some Fiamme singles rims I have at home for the full vintage look!
My road bike is a Giant Peloton Superlight frame which was meant to be pretty good in its day, with shimano 105 running gear and Velocity rims although there is a set of the wheels that it is meant to have at home, the ones with about 16 composite blade spokes
If I can get fit enough on the MTB over winter I might start racing Track again next summer
