I love mountain biking, but I wouldn't say I'm that serious about it.
The main problem I have is getting motivated to actualy go out inthe first place, once out and filthy dirty and shattered I love it, but my body always dictates when enough is enough.
Me and a mate went up into Leith hill last Wednesday during the heavy rain and strong winds, you can imagine the state we came home in, but it was such a laugh. I've also found that soft wet mud doesn't hurt as much when you come off lol
I'd love to do the 100 mile off road charity ride across the south downs, but I'm not so sure I'll be fit enough although I have till July to train.

Winchester to Eastbourne Randonnée? I've been tempted by that before......it has quite a gruelling rep, though. I think there is a shorter version for us wheezers too.

cool the more the merrier, it does have a very harsh reputation, but me and Dan have been thinking about it, but I will have to do a lot of training in order to have a hope in hell. Mind you it would be good to have a goal to work towards
Are you using the Redlands trails? bunch of dorking nutters....

Had to re-attach a brake cable going from the rear mech up to the seat post via cable clips and tightened it up underneith my seat clamp

then fully lubed the chain with this horrible black oper gear lube, manky stuff! Also changed the tyres from the pink halo twin-rail to Tioga blue dragons

Should be ok for tonight!

Nope never heard of them, I'm going tohave a read through the site, looks interesting.
It's run by a friend of mine. They're building & maitaining a load of trails around Leith, Holmbury Hill, Wolven's Lane in collaboration with the Forestry Commission & land owners. Have a play & see. Summer Lightning is a nice bit of fun. Not too technical. There's a map on the website.

I entered the Mini MaxxExposure night ride last year along the South Downs way. I thought I was fairly fit but realy suffered on the last few miles. I've never ridden or walked the South Downs Way and didn't know quite what to expect, the trail just keeps going up and down, up and down. At least the the North Downs Way and the Greensand Way stay on top of the hills most of the time.I'd love to do the 100 mile off road charity ride across the south downs, but I'm not so sure I'll be fit enough although I have till July to train.

The mini version looks like ace fun! How long did it take you to do that route in the dark?
Not sure about the full enduro overnight..........

Well if they ever need more hands digging, I'm sure I can get a couple of people together

I've never ridden competitively before and got kinda carried away. We (myself and a couple of friends) started 5 minutes later than everyone else and began to catch people along the way, and that really feels good. Unfortunately the red mist came downThe mini version looks like ace fun! How long did it take you to do that route in the dark?

I get very hungry when I cycle hard and the checkpoint had lots of food, and after half a dozen orange squashes, some choc. bars and treacle tart I was ready for the return. In my winning driven state of euphoria (maybe a little exaggeration there) I hadn't appreciated the choc bars and drink were all proper energy foods and that I'd just loaded about a weeks worth of calories into myself. I really suffered on the way back. Ah well, at least I know my body can get rid of anything it doesn't really want in there....

Think time out was 1 1/2 hrs and time back something like another 2 1/2 hrs. Oh well, lesson learned, but I do love night riding. Roll on the winter!
