some good advice there thanks

like the idea of last years stock on the cheap, i am not fashion led, just bargain led!!

having GEL near yer ars sounds a bit monkey to me!! but i get the drift

Dorking must have some lovely tracks out to box hill etc

more advice welcome to a bloke thats last new bike was a "grifter"!!! first bike with gear change on the grip, but bloody heavy! built for comfort not speed, bit like me :(

Dorking has some great tracks what with Box Hill and Leith hill etc, have just come back from being up Box hill again tonight on the bike, 2nd time out, and I'm shattered, but its great fun riding down hill fast.

Halfords I guess it ok, but I didn't think much of their range and the sales people weren't the most helpful, where as my local warehouse guy was happy to spend time with me finding a bike I like and that suits me.

just to resurrect this topic a bit....

i just got my first bike after a 9 year gap. i used to do a fair bit of road riding, just for the sheer pleasure of it, but give it up when the kids came along.

well now the kids can ride their own bikes so me and the wife decided to get some of our own so we can go out for family rides :dontgetit:

didn't have much money to spend, but i decided to go for a hybrid bike so i can use it on the local cycle tracks and hopefully it will be good enough on the road as well. just been out for an hour, (first time for 9 years dont forget) and well its OK, needs a bit of tweaking though. due to the price it does get let down a bit on the chain set, well compared to my old road bike, the gears are not as close as my old road bike (obviously) and its not as nimble on the road, but i think it will be OK so i can see if i want to get back into it or not.

didn't get too far as the saddle was giving me jip, the two stitch lines are just in the wrong place. worst saddle Ive ever used, not impressed. :o

this will need changing and i need some toe clips

I have just this evening got my hands on my new Spesh Rockhopper

Attached File  8192_41_RH_silver_l.jpg   199.54K   6 downloads

I can't wait to take it out for a proper ride at the weekend but whilst i'm on the subject, does anybody use a roof rack on their Mini to carry their bike? I've had a look in halfrauds and they seem to do bars which will fit along with a cycle rack which will fit but i've never seen a Mini with one fitted! Does anyone have any experience with using them?

Also if anyone ever fancies checking out some trails and are in East Anglia, feel free to drop me a PM :(

Different aspects of riding welcome here Mr joe :(

Nice ride Anorak, looks a compfy pleasurable bike.
Wouldnt be able to say that about mine though!

reminds me i need to take the pink tyre of the front, im getting to many funny looks

i suppose going down a near vertical hill at 40 would be different to a daily ride round the country side or roads lol

When I started riding again earlier this year I bought one of these, ideal entry level mountain bike, handles great, and the hydrulic brakes are fantastic, however its weird putting dot 4 brake fluid into a mountain bike lol

Whatever happened to giving someone the benefit of the doubt? I'm sure he'll be here any minute to defend his honor and asking you to eat your words.
Come on Kirk, where are you?|

Of course I make it all the way up to the tower, without getting off.

ok well the first time I didn't, but we have been up there a few times, its not so much the comming off going up now, its more an issue of comming off riding down the tracks, and hm well being a bit over confident.

I'm soon off to the Afan forest in Wales soon witht he bikes and the camper, so I'm bound to kill myself there

Yay! Go for it!!

Have fun. I'm jealous. I was in Coed-y-Brenin & cross country in Snowdonia last week & now have post-bikey blues.

Got body armour yet?
