If it's the one I'm thinking of the main sponsor was Mini Magazine, it wasn't a works car. I probably have the orignal article about the build somewhere. You could pay for a trip round the special stage in this car at the first or second MITP. They only stopped rallying it because it was wrecked and rebuilding it was going to be expensive I think. It had lots of nice touches like removable access panels in the rear seat back to be able to access the rear shocks for replacement without removing the tanks or emptying the boot and a removable front slam panel for better engine access and fast engine swaps.

I was in the forestry behind my house watching these Minis go flying by and the Mini Sport backed red/white Rover Mini Cooper (car no: 149) driven by Daniel Harper and Leslie Reger won the group N class.

It was even mentioned on the national TV news.

In 1997 there were several minis that entered the Networ Q Rally GB.

The most noteble would have been the Plant brothers entry sponsered by Corgi and Eddie Stobart Registration A13 GPN (class A - 1300cc class. Group N - production group) car number 162. I can probibly find out more info on this car as i am aquainted with the chap who ran this car through the rally for the plant brothers. There was also, of course, the Minisport red and white entry car 149, and Trevor Goodwins silver mini car 164.

The Mini magazine Car was not till 1998 IIRC, Trevor Goodwin still had his silver car in 1997.

some one ask me how I know this :)

'A13 GPN' was first seen as the 'British Gas' Mini on Network 'Q' driven by the Plant twins. It then went on to do the Monty under the 'Viking Tyres' banner. Hence its 'Nickname' which was / is 'MonteQ'.

I dont think Plants still have either that car or Q290, but someone may know otherwise !?

The 1994 Network Q car was A13NGV (Natural Gas Vehicle) due to a sponsorship deal with British Gas - the service vans ran on gas. A13GPN was first used on the 1995 Monte Carlo.

No they don't own either of the cars, Q290 was in Scotland but changed hands a few months ago and is I understand being restored to the 1997 Safari colours, much better than the Zebra colour scheme it currently wears. A13GPN has changed hands a few times and is often seen at Mini shows.
