Are they easy to disassemble? I think mine are needing a clean as they don't rewind.
DO NOT dismantle and try to clean or repair a seat belt machanism. It's dangerous and very illegal (interfering with a vehicle safety belt installation). If a seatbelt mechanism has failed or worn the entire belt must be replaced.

yeah just get a new one for 5 at the scrappies, i tried to unjam my m8s 98 polo belt and the pre-tensioner exploded, deafening me and my mate for 10 mins lol mini ones have a spring that will take your fingers off so forget about fixing it.
Haaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaa! I love bomb stories like that!
But a good point - how many people would know that? (Well a lot more now anyway.) Good to know that..

I doubt you could get the O/E Kangol type of seat belt now and even if you could it would probably cost a small fortune.

Good aren't they, pre-tensioner's are there to pull a seatbelt in tight in the event of a crash, pulling the ocupant back into the seat, it's basically a small explosive charge, similar to that used in an airbag.
With the mini's you could try disconnecting it from the door bin, and allowing some reel to feed in, then see if it'll come out again, if this works, bonus, if not at least you've started to take it off to fit a new one!
