No work done... I'm pretty lazy, but I went n collected some goodies! Hopefully it'll give me a kick in the ass to do some work and move things a long.

6d1be153-905e-4a89-9464-cec27b5b657e_zps

taa-daaaaaa. Obviously I had to throw it all in place...

Carbon roof, fiberglass front end and bonnet (I decided against the carbon bonnet as I didnt want to overload the look of the car with carbon)

IMAG3524_zps4b6sxxx3.jpg

Roof doesnt fit at the moment, its sized to fit in place of the original roof, so will need to fiddle with the lip I have left under so sit a little lower and accept the panel correctly.

IMAG3535_zpsatvyypyw.jpg

Nice big engine bay, I need to sort out how the front end is going to be mounted. I have seen some nifty clips on demon tweeks site for the front mount. I dont want to use regular clips as I think they look a little ****! I'll be mouthing the bonnet using aerocatches again, which'll be the flush type and will also get them painted.

A few more things

IMAG3541_zps1ltvzhr5.jpg

Clubman rear bumper. I only got the rear bumper, but I'm now thinking I might want a front bumper too... not sure yet though.

IMAG3543_zpsuvkeyctv.jpg

A nice dash... thats going to take a lot of hassle to fit around the cage, the steering column and aluminium bulkhead. Need to decide what instrument module I

want too, they all seem so expensive but I dont really want to use the Acewell I was using before.

IMAG3529_zpsxacbqyug.jpg

Just for good measure, I had offered up the arch to the rear, needs a little trimming to fit 100% but its not too bad. Also covers the wheel really well... Shame that I wont use these wheels in the end. Might have to measure these and get splits to a similar spec.

Anywho... Enough for now

Dave.

Got some brackets welded onto the A-panels and got the front end up bolted up to them. Im not 100% happy with the fit so plenty of fettling room yet. I havent done anything with the front mounts yet either, will sort this out when I have made the front mount radiator brackets and incorperate.

IMAG3548_zpsliql8s3h.jpg

Also got some pins for the bonnet and boot lid. Need to make some brackets for these.

IMAG3555_zps1ol7g4dg.jpg

Almost got all the major bits I need to complete the braking system, I have ordered a pedal box which is on back order and got some stubby AP master cylinders to suit. Still need some reserviours and sort some handbrake bits.

IMAG3554_zpssrp5bsds.jpg

After that I can start making up the pedal box mounts and lower column mount.

Those carbon arches looks sweet! Have you settled on a body colour yet?

What size master cylinders have you gone for?

Still not 100% on the body colour. I have a few in mind and leaning towards one side, but will see later on. The cars getting a full dry build before dissasebly and paint anyhows.

I got a 1. inch and 0.625 on recomendations from KAD with use on their 6pot fronts and disk rears. Using a 0.75 for clutch as I read thats the original diam of the mini cylinder. Obviously I'm now using a hydraulic clutch where before I was using the mechanicle conversion from SH engineering

So I recieved a front splitter from ABS, I have started started trial fitting. Im not 100% sure if I like the look though. The idea of it is to lower the front end slightly, so that it sits level with the floor, this will allow me to fit an under tray and semi-flat floor. Need to decide before I chop away behind the splitter, It'll allow me to fit any radiator or intercooler lower down. I'll incorperate the front end forward mounts and rad mounts to the under tray mounts. Now I need an Intercooler and Rad for mock up purposes

IMAG3560_zpshmwrzczd.jpg

Gawwd it looks high though. Damn new cones. I might put the old engine in to see how much it goes down by

I know it is an Ex rally car, but if you intend on doing any rallying i'd leave it off as it will only get knocked off.

Could you have it so there is the option to run it (on tarmac for example) and then remove for anything slightly bumpy?

Nope, not likely to see much dirt nower days, really, it'll only be use as a track day hero... possibly some sprints if I can slot it into any classes.

I wont really be able to have the splitter as removable, I had planned to cut away behind the splitter to give space for the rads.... but of course im apprehensive still! as I dont want to bugger up my nice new front end if i change my mind

So i've gone off using the front splitter. Im not going to count it out fully yet, but ill just leave it for now and see later on.

I've also got my pedal box.

IMAG3721_zpsrw3pkpzh.jpg

IMAG3725_zpspo5cprpb.jpg

I've started fitting up, trying to get it into the correct space without clashing the steering column nor being too high and restricting where the lines need to feed in and out as my ally bulkhead is here

IMAG3726_zpszjvb1iqw.jpg

Actually in this pic it was too far right meaning the clutch pedal was clashing the lower UJ and I have since moved the box section.

I still need to weld mounts to the box section and when thats finalised join it up onto the cage dash bar. Then can make the steering column lower mount.

Also started getting the dash into place.

IMAG3728_zps4wjdbzte.jpg

IMAG3747_zpsashj7jtj.jpg

Filleted around the rollcage and seems a relitivly good fit.  Mounts using riv-nuts riveted into the bulkhead, although these still could do with a bit of fine tuning and shaping.

IMAG3757_zps0cdykuv9.jpg

Bit of trimming to accommodate the column. Should be hidden by the dash part still.

lel... really wish I could have had it done for riv but not a hope in hell... mostly because I have just finished work for the day and i got straight into bed, such lazyness!

I guess its safe to say im in dry-build time... but there's a lot more to do before i can even contemplate taking it all back apart for paint. No idea what colour to go for yet anyhows.

Few things done.

IMAG3767_zpsmnkmjenv.jpg

Pedal box is now in place. Welded mounts onto the box section. The ends will be shortened and tied up onto the dash bar with a removable brace across to steady the lower section of the steering column.

IMAG3769_zpsla4nmfeh.jpg

Seems a little biased right at the moment, but the pedals have the facility to shift the pads side ways.. I have since moved these over to allow for throttle pedal. Although the space would be fine for thin racing shoes, my normal trainers are a little more chunky up the toes.
And of course everything misses the steering column.

IMAG3779_zps6vudyi8x.jpg

Started getting the top part of the dash into place. Not got all the mounts in place yet as i need to figure out how to attach the top part... bit restricted on access. Will also need to to cut the dash where the steering column will protrude through.

And also carrying on with the more bitty jobs, positioning the aerocatches on the bonnet and plates to attach. drilling the side windows into the shell and door.

IMAG3795_zpshzvrdjwf.jpg

With a weeks worth of shut down at work at Easter I'd like to buy seats and seat rails then I can everything in final positions.
